.............I came into possession of a TAMIYA 1/350 scale IJN Yamato battleship kit.
But whether I keep it, re-sell it, or do anything else with it depends on how salvageable the kit is as I need to check for missing or damaged parts, etc.
If I keep the kit, I have no idea what I'd whif it into if I did. I'm clueless.
So my question is: What would you folks do with a Yamato battleship kit? How would you whif it?
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Steel Penguin

in no apparent order,

catamaran
wheels  or tracks and a land battle ship,
low profile wheels and a racer
90s update,  cwis radars ets
now update  vls cells drones etc
zeppelin style lifting array and an areal battleship as in the Micheal Moorcocks " warlord of the air" books
rebuild the uppers and have it as a comms array / science vessel
i dont know what scale figure youd need to use to get a "shipgirl" look  probably too large.

the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

There's already a Boat Girl: a hairdresser called Jackie who just happens to own an ELCO 109ft torpedo boat. She was a bit shy and innocent until she met the gang...

Turn it into a giant space battleship, with tail fin and jets, but keep the 18" guns. Totally original idea: I mean, who'd be mad enough to have come up with that one already, right?

Well, once you get all that steel into space you might as well make good use of it. A couple of times slingshotting around the big planets would get it up to speed. Just don't try to stop it.

1.@1958. It survived the war and after sitting in mothballs for a decade + it was modernized roughly like the Galveston Class Cruisers with main turrets still forward but missiles aft.

2. WWII- Aft deck converted to a flight deck.

3. Post WWII, captured as a war prize, Put into Soviet service.

swap the plant for a nice big Fusion engine  and go for railguns and CREWS
rescale it with some foils and have a hydrofoil in 100cale.

Re option 1:

The kamikaze operation to Okinawa is never launched due to fuel shortages.
Yamato is scuttled at her moorings to block the port in anticipation of a US invasion.
The A-bombings make an invasion uneccessary.
Since the ship was scuttled by opening her sea cocks rather than using explosives, the easiest way to clear the port is to seal and refloat her.
Yamato is disarmed, unfuelled, and used as an accomodation ship for 10 years.
When the JMSDF is being put together, the use/conversion of the hull comes up for consideration.

ive gone sideways again ( i blame John Denver's  Calypso coming onto my player at random)  a super sized research ship for  Jacques Cousteau  plenty of space for the under hull view dome, and submersibles on the back deck.  And its such a statement of swords into ploughshares..

Use the turrets and gun barrels as a crane to lower and recover the minisubs. Or place them as artificial reefs to study the fish
