Brian mate I'm becoming a fan of this beast ..the look of this plane has grown on me quiet alot and that's the main reason I've tried to keep this looking as much like a Buccaneer has I can ..minus its airbrake ..that I just couldn't find a place for it ..so it's a brake chute now .

Kits second rule 👌
That's Gentlmens rules are very handy pretty much all the time  ;D

Thanks to Kericks voice being stuck in the back of my head about the intakes and all the aircraft ive checked I've finally come up with a way to enlarge them ..ive widened the original intakes by 4mm . ;D
So now they'll still look like Buccaneer intakes but taller

Looking forward to seeing it!
Me to Ken ...im really enjoying how this is turning out  ;D

I'm always willing to help out a friend!
😆 🤣  damn right about that  ;D
The new intakes do look pretty good ..bigger for sure but still have the look of the Buccaneer

If you don't post a pic it never happened.......
If my internet speeds up abit then it's possible I'll post a update ...I had a wee mini disaster with the nose cone and I'm now reshaping it..well not reshaping..more rebuilding it ..I epoxied it last night so it's good to go now for sanding

Sounds like it inadvertently impacted a nonmovable surface during a vertical acceleration.
Nope 😄
It's very strange actually bud ...I used air rifle pellets in the nose cone as weights ..nothing new or strange about that...and I used this cheap nasty CA glue to make say put ..nothing new or strange there either..done that many times too .
What I noticed was a dent in plastic which I thought was weird and when I pushed it ..it was very soft ...some how the CA was softening the plastic..it's never done that before..so I cut it out and the more I cut the less nose cone was there 😅
Weird that huh? 🤔 😅
So Tamiya epoxy putty has been doing it's job..so far it's going well 👌

I had that happen with lead shot and CA. But only one time out of many. Weird.
This has me thinking mate ..im wondering if it something to do with that plastic Airfix use.
I'm wondering this because I've done this many times with brands like Monogram.  Revell..Hasegawa and so on but not Airfix..im pretty certain I've never built a 48th scale Airfix kit before..before this one anyway also this is 30yrs old too and I did notice how soft this plastic is.
So that got the thinking going.

That I'd bet on  ;D
Whatever it was I think ive got it beat now ..it's epoxied and Tamiya puttyed with the white ..sanded smooth ..it's getting very close to slapping it togetherish..then painting .
Still want a desert scheme but not pink..I fecking hate pink..don't want US desert sand as it's to bright ..but with a black primer and light coats I might be able to get it darker ..adding white might not go well 😕
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Ken..remember I'm 3/4 colour blind so I gotta stick to easy stuff  ;D
I picked up 3 Tamiya paints today..desert sand..dark yellow and dark yellow 2 ...figuring those 3 combined layer apon layer could give a half-decent desert colour .
It's going to be primed in flat black and sprayed lightly so the black will create depth .

A friend recommended adding cream to lighten something, rather than white, as it makes a 'warmer' tone. FWIW

Did this get any further/finished?

As to engine choice, there's a ready made drop in in the form of a developed De Havilland Gyron in place of the piffling junior's. ;)

Your timing is pretty good mate   ;D
I actually threw paint at this yesterday 😅
Would have been more paint today but the RW intervened and interrupted my plans ...sadly the next two days are going to be much the same .
But this ain't dead or forgotten..ie..shelf queen  ;D  <_<

That's good to hear. Hopefully you'll be able to squeak it in on the last day of the year ;)

As i mentioned in a previous post ,,the CA pretty much ate the plastic on the nose of this bird ,,,damn near completely destroying it  which did complicate matters some what  ;D
Well after quite a bit of work i got it sorted to the point where im happy with it ...would have been even more happier if it hadnt happened at all

Heres what the nose looked like after removing the super softened plastic .

And that's easily sorted paint-wise, by making that part the radome, in black.

Coming along well, Phill.
