This idea has been on the back burner for ages ,,i had the idea the moment it got this model ...but as we all know all to well other projects get moved to the front because they are much more fun or easier to do as we all have our areas of comfort ..mine being armour and im semi comfortable with aircraft .
Figures tho i am not comfortable with especially with something this size and especially with what i have in mind for it ...but many thanks to Ol Womby my butt got convinced to get into gear and get on with it ...and ill admit ..im enjoying this ,,so far  ;D
Man the painting is going to be painful tho ...its got a fecking horse  :o

Righto then this is where it starts ,,the original model ..

Ok so the horse rider / knight is complete ..all of his parts were there and he pretty much looks the same as the box art ,,,one the other hand tho the dude on the ground ,,hes missing a few bits ,,like his head,,torso..arms and pike ...but i had the torso from some other model and thats all i needed so this is what happened next ,,hacking time ..

This is just the start of the Knight ....hes not even close to being done and neither is his horsey .,,the dude on the grounf about to be crunked just has to have a few more details added like the straps for his shield and belts and the like ...the Knight tho is seriously corrupted by Chaos and so is his ride ,,,hes gonna look  nothing like he does now thats a certainty .

That's looking good

As for painting the horse ? At least it's mainly covered by its caparison and armour. I was always always told that the best way to recreate that sheen that horse's seem to have is to use oils, and then wipe them off when partialy dry. Never tried it myself, never painted anything much bigger than 25mm, but from what I saw of others work it certainly looked good.

I don't think I could be bothered trying to learn how to paint horse figures, I'm having enough trouble working out how to paint a 75mm human figure ... 1/35 techniques don't translate directly onto the larger scale piece. :banghead:

Chris that horse is in for quite a lot of additions..alot more armour and chains and I've gotta try to bulk the legs up more ..thankfully there won't be alot of horse to paint .
Getting the tones and shadows and shades right is definitely not on my cards and most kinda luck I suppose is that most Choas Knights horses are black  ;D

This'll be good.  That horned helmet is already looking suitably Chaos-y along with those neck tusks on the horse. The guy who's day is about to take a significant downturn also looks quite Bretonian, you'll get GWs nickers in a twist by using non- company but which is a bonus.  There's some wicked looking blades in that bits box, I'm sure they'll come in useful.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Mate this is one of those builds where making something look bad is a good thing 😆
I've still got alot more to add to the knight as he'ls not looking anywhere near nasty enough and GW might not like it but hey I'm using their parts and if that's not enough they can bite me 😄
Besides GW don't make 120mm resin Chaos Knights anyway so there ya go 😉
The horsey is still racking the soft part at the mo ..ive gotta make armour for him and I'm seriously thinking of making it from copper plate..ive already reinforced the legs with brass rod so that shouldn't be a problem and it will be much easier to work with than plastic.

That'll make for some interesting "work in progress" shots
