Quote from: PR19_Kit on January 04, 2025, 05:26:05 AMDo they still make Metalcote Chris? I've not seen any for ages.

I'm not sure Kit, which is why I picked them up when I saw he had them.

There's a couple of traders who still stock the enamels at shows, Mr Model is one, and it's worthwhile checking their racks

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Looking good ! The paint looks decent...glad you could help it with the gloss coat.
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Well, I'm damned, I thought they'd stopped making it ages ago and gave up looking. As Chris says it does give a great metallic finish even when brushed.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's good stuff, although I've had duff pots (we're talking years back). The range could do with a few extra shades as well. I've got a vague feeling it used to?

With all of the Ammo..Vallejo and so on acrylic paints I've got there's still a very nice pile of Humbrol paints in the paint stash  ;D
Still have a heap of enamel paint and a wee while back my Humbrol rail colours acrylic paints increased dramatically with a wonderful score from trademe
These paints I really do like ..great coverage and very easy to work with and the odd ball colours are brilliant even tho they are British rail colours 😀

Probably because not many traders stock Humbrol, let alone their enamels at shows Kit.

I know they used to do specific rail and wargames colours in enamel (the wargames ones, especially the uniform colours, can be very useful) didn't realise the rail could be got in acrylic ?

The Wargames ones were sold in specific sets (rather like Hataka nowadays) so you had Napoleonic uniforms, ancients (a very useful set) etc, but they only produced them for a few years and I haven't seen any, other than mine  , for eons. Always worthwhile keeping an eye open though

Just had a look at the stash as a memory was trying to force it's way into my concience, and the Wargames colours were part of the Authentic Colour range which mainly consisted of of "matched" aircraft and armour colours.

I broke a mount on one of the small skis sanding the theatre band today.
Once it was glued I began painting the topside camo.  One coat of one colour on.
Not a good finish as it was over 30℃ and the paint was drying rapidly.  Its sortable, but i'll probly break something else sanding...

Much cooler today so paint went on as it should.
I managed to sand back yesterdays lumps without breaking off anything, made good, and added a second coat of the first colour.  And then a partial first coat of the second.
