No, it's sorted now.  Just needs a polish, another squirt of primer, glue the cowling on and then its painting time.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Shiny (sort of).

I used it to trial a new (to me) metal paint.  This one...
olar Corsair WIP 29-12-24 03 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
...which hasn't made a good first impression.  It's a water based acrylic which is supposed to be good to be airbrushed straight from the bottle.  I found I had to thin it and then it went on with a blotchy slightly mottled finish.  A coat of gloss clear has improved things but it's not as good as Alclad would have been.
Maybe more experimentation is needed.  Maybe a gloss black undercoat like is recommended with Alclad?

That's looking good in the pics mate but things can look different in a photo...still to us 😉
The air pressure your using for the airbrush could be a thing bud...ive tried low pressure ..12 to 15psi .. and the spray is blotchy and seems to spit as it comes out ..higher pressure like 20 to 25psi really moves the paint good .
Also the metal coat might like it's own thinners like AK Interactive does ..I had the same problem with AK until I used their thinners ..works a treat now
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Thinned with Vallejo Airbrush Thinners and Vallejo Airbrush Flow Enhancer.  Sprayed at 20 psi.
I will experiment.

I have decided on an upper scheme (only the undersides will remain NMF).  I began masking and in the process snapped an outrigger ski mount.
Glue is setting.

Yes, that gets the shiniest results. I've not used it myself, but I've thought about it and researched a lot. The aluminium colour is probably the least shiny as well.

Looks good for a painted aluminium finish though.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Alclad polished aluminium, when put over a suitably glossy base coat, is marvellously shiny.  It makes for, IMO, better scale chrome than their actual polished chrome metaliser.

I've got the wrong shade, there are several versions of aluminium in the range and the one I'm thinking of is dull aluminium.

They won't be quite as shiny as alcad, but should be a good trade off for the delicate finish. They supposedly brush paint lovely too.

I mainly bought Vallejo metallic to brush.  I have been using Mr Metal Color for this but have had problems restocking so I thought I would try something else.
I also thought i'd see how it sprayed.

Having repaired the damage I caused masking I continued with the tape and have been brush painting a theatre band on the rear fuselage.
I also repaired an earlier "Baderectomy" by gluing lower legs back onto the pilot and then began painting him.

Humbrol Metalcote brushes exceptionally well providing it's stirred well. Picked up a complete set of them from Mr Models last time I saw he had them at a show. My old stock was starting to get to the bottom of the tin

Do they still make Metalcote Chris? I've not seen any for ages.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
