So the back story needs some work but on the basis that the UN failed to deliver an Antarctic Treaty post WW2 in 1950, things could get rather hot in the Southern Ocean.

Aotearoa, having extensive holdings and claims in the Antarctic, needs to ensure minimal interference from Soviet and People's Republic of Patagonia air assets. The stationing of a CAP-capable fighter on supply and survey vessels (like the old CAM-ships of the early Atlantic war) seemed like a good idea and the only VTOL fighter of the time is the Convair FY-1, renamed by the RAN after a Māori mythical bird of prey - Pouākai.

As the pic shows, this is the Mistercraft Pogo and I've been looking for an excuse to start on it.... this'll do!

Nice little kit, a rare diamond in the rough from Mistercraft and KP.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Finally got started, the instructions are both vague and hilarious. The spiel on the front of the instruction sheet tell me the whole story of the Mig 25......

Oh yeah..ya didn't know that the Mig-25 and the Pogo were designed by the same company 🤔 😳
Doug that makes no sense at all  :o

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Both interceptors, so sure, that matches.

I do love the Pogo, it almost worked, it might have been successful with a little more thought and time.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Ok, finally, after much cursing and deciding now was the time to cut bait, I've photographed the Pouākai.
I'm beginning to  think that manufacturers of white paint hate me. Tamiya has never cause me an issue before but this alienated between milk (with no coverage at all) to syrup.
So this is NOT my best work! I fear there is a use-by date nowadays.

I decided to try a Swedish-esque arctic scheme, based on the colours proposed (but never used) by the RAF in the arctic. topic=52441.0]here[/url] and here

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Great scheme!

I have been having good results with Vallejo Air white airbrushed over primer, or even hardware spray paint white.  I no longer hand brush white.

Thanks, I think I need to give up on the brush!
