And there's no method to correct them either. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Speaking of expensive 1/72 kits...

My God Father (an Engineer and Austin Seven aficionado) died last year and left me some money which I have finally been given (lawyers were moving slower than continental drift).  I have bought some models I would never normally have considered due to price.  I like to think he would have approved.

Definitely NOT the Airfix kit.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The Comet is reputedly a beautiful kit and an excellent build.

Quote from: Wardukw on February 05, 2025, 12:05:09 AMHere tho ..old kits have this curse ..if it's old it's rare  ..if it's rare it's worth more so they charge more ..hence it makes 48th scale cheap by comparison and on the Trademe auction site there's been many times where there's more 48th for sale than 72nd  :o
Things can be bloody strange sometimes bud that's for sure .

Yup, especially when you see a Monogram 1/72 F-16XL selling for over 100€, when you know you bought two for less and both Kinetic 1/48 F-16XL (single and twin seater) kits for just 15€ over the 100 someone paid for the monogram kit...  ;D
But i've also paid around 100€ for one of the Italeri 1/48 RAH-66 Comanche kits and almost 120 for my first Monogram 1/32 Blue Thunder...

They look superb

All I'll say about price differentials as far as 1/72 : 1/48 : 1/32 is concerned is that the R&D cost for any kit is probably the greatest contributor to it's final cost and that R&D cost is almost the same for each type regardless of scale. However that does not explain or excuse the cost of some ancient 1/72 re-pops.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

When Airfix 72nd Hunters are more expensive than the equivalent Revell, you know there's something wrong.

Oh we've got that here mate for sure 😆
There's this dude on trademe who's been trying to flog a 48th Monogram F-100 Super Sabre for $100 nz  🙄 😳 😁😁
The wally is dreaming and he's been dreaming for like 6 months now ..hell I brought the later release of the same kit for $40 and it was off trademe 😆
But finding the Kinetic F16XL for 15 € is amazing man..I'd would have brought those in a heartbeat and yep I'm still trying to hunt one down and I don't actually remember the last time I saw one for sale here it's been that long now .
I have seen the 72nd Monogram one tho and like you the dude wanted quite alot for it, $75nz .
It's a small model ..yep had one donkeys ago and not worth 75 notes .
Ya know I've never seen a 48th RAH-66 Comanche..didn't know they made one so no wonder the price and dude ..Blue Thunder ..hens teeth in today's world 🌎 😬 🤪
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

The skyray was very very cheap, and the Yak27  looks very interesting, i want to join a sowjet style Groupbuild, so i need something to build original ( and no kitbashing allowed ) , but maybe i can have some fun with massive aging at that .

Is a different scheme/user allowed?
If so, what about US markings as a captured/test evaluation aircraft?

I think the YAK styling and red stars fit perfect together   and it is the dark side from the past, not russia today .
