This is a small and quick project that didn't take very long. I used to have a 1/72 scale British Vulcan bomber kit long ago that I got from my local model club auction. But upon opening the box and inspecting the kit, I found out that some pieces were missing and the decals were trashed. :(
I ditched the kit, but salvaged the Blue Steel missile it had. After a long time, I found some inspiration on what to do with that missile: Turn it into a prototype German A-9 manned rocket based on what I read at these links:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aggregat
https://fantastic-plastic.com/emw-a-9-german-manned-suborbital-rocket-concept-by-special-hobby.html
https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/manned-v2-a4-a9-a10.28054/
Used Vallejo paints for the whole thing. Painted the underside all a really dark grey (almost black) to represent some sort of heat shielding. The decals were spares. Cockpit window is painted silver. The base is just a spare part from another old kit I have. I do have a tiny 1/144 scale astronaut figure that would look great next to this rocket, but I'm unsure what color to paint his suit?

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Ok, I added a small 1/144 scale astronaut figure next to the rocket for scale reference.
The rocket may be 1/72 scale and the astronaut 1/144, but I think they actually could work really well together.
Using a 1/72 scale figure would be too big.
The astronaut's suit isn't painted white, but rather a light grey.
