Upgraded C-130  powered by a pair of TP400 engines. Got the idea after seeing photo of the former Hercules W. 2 fitted out as an engine test bed for the A400

It would mean robbing the Revell 1/144 A400 of two engines but, I figure it could be fitted with four turbofans instead.....!, 😉😂

And it'll look just like a C-17.  ;D  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Not if you mount the engines over the wing...   ;)

And, the problem with that is...........? ;)  ;D  Do you think I should lengthen the wings? ;) I'd briefly considered actually lengthening the Revell C-17 but, there are some very complex shapes involved so, I opted for discretion being the better part of valour!

Here we go again 🙄
I had a semi built herc given to me by my mate Perrin and I'm almost at this very moment getting the bits together to build a 4 engined jet powered C-130.
I'm going to use 4 modified 72nd A-10 Thunderbolt ll engines ..lengthened and widened.
Already got one Academy A-10 for the task and that ended up giving me another idea 💡 😅
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Oh I'd love it if it was Fred but sadly no..it's 72nd 😆
Me mate Perrin who gave the herc to me is also donating a A-10 he's already built for me to hack up to get the extra engines I'm going to need...there like chickens teeth here right now ..no body has one ..anywhere .

You could take a 1/72 Hercules and scaleorama it into a smaller transport with 2 engines in 1/48.

... I suppose the same thing could be done with A400 or C-17 too.

Oh I did have a gander at that idea but not 48th A-10 ones  ;D
They are huge in 48th and do make a 72nd Herc look small ..like these 2 engines would over power the plane nine ways from Sunday..also you'd have to mount em in the wings ..not under them ..they're just to large ..measurements time 😉
A-10 engines measurements in 48th scale in mm's
Diameter 32mm ..but then when ya put a mount on it ,it then becomes 41mm ...taking the gap under a 72nd herc wing to the ground you have 56.91mm ..so the engines are to close to the ground...so wing cut it would be .
Now the question arises..which would look cooler ..one with 4 smaller engines or one with 2 massive ones thru the wing 🪽 🤔
Crap pickles..the 48th engines are starting to get me lads  :banghead:

You could always mount them YC-14 style, partly in the wing, but the upper surface.

Mind reading again is ya Al ??  ;D
I didn't think of the YC-14 at all but that's the idea the brain was going towards..another idea was the same but reversed ..still tho ..this is the ideas section so everything is on the table right now 🤔 😅

A pair of Rolls-Royce Tyne Mk22 turboprops taken from the Heller 1/72 C-160 model kit is what I have done to a 1/72 C-130,  I'm in the process of turning it into the twin engine SC-400 maritime surveillance aircraft know as the Lockheed Venus MR.1 influenced by the C-160ASF proposal.

The trick would be to find one here - forget about the 'too expensive thing', the 'unobtanium thing' trumps* it...

*apologies for the terminology...  :banghead:
