Maybe it just didn't want to go to Antarctica ?  ;)

It does look quite modern compared to the cars in those photos though.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

This machine is a classic case of "I know more and better than you" .
Well nope..no you don't  :banghead:
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

'Permanently Misplaced"...  ;D  Maybe they were just too embarrassed by the whole thing and wanted to forget it as quickly as possible?

Well, given that they knew exactly where to dig to find and resurrect the C-130 after however many years, something's screwy here...

The last time it was seen was in an area of the ice shelf that later collapsed. It's likely that whatever remains is somewhere on the sea floor. That's only if the Nazi Lizard People who live in the Hollow Earth didn't steal it.

That's something someone (not looking at anyone in particular...) could model - the Nazi Resurrected Snow Cruiser!
A couple of Quad 30mm AA, an 88mm main gun (for the traditionalists), or something larger (for the modern world) and a Kolibri in a hangar at the back...

That is a REALLY cool concept!  :o
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

RAFF-35

I have just purchased one of these with the expressed intention of making it a free flying version rather than simply being tethered. My question is what would it be used for? Army cooperation? Artillery observation? Naval reconnaissance?

There's a reason it's tethered dude 😆
It's got no controls for controlled flight ...ohhh so glad I won't be the pilot

I wasn't going to make it a horrendously bad idea by not giving it any controls 😂 Although, having said that, didn't some of the US Army flying soldier concepts rely on the victim... errr... soldier tilting to control flight direction?

As bad ideas went that would  have been a absolute doosie
And yep ..the US Army tried a few nutbar ideas for these sorts of things ..all were rather small and could be controlled by leaning ..there's plenty of footage online of em being tested .
The biggest problem was the moment a soldier fired his rifle the things were no longer stable and ya had to correct every shot quite severely afterwards.
