That's OUTRAGEOUS!  :banghead:  :banghead:

My lady friend and I have been there 3-4 times to knitting events (she's a knitter like I'm a Whiffer..........) and the place is WALL TO WALL knitting with HUNDREDS of people attending twice a year. There's never a sign of any 'safety issues' and it always goes off well.  The Council should be ashamed of themselves.

I'll tell her about it and we'll probably go and see it at Peterborough later in the month.

The upstairs cafe at the Norwich site does particularly good bacon butties and hot chocolate!  ;D

"Safety fears" sounds like an excuse. I wonder what the real reason was.

They're too jeffin' lazy? Standard council behaviour, why put a little effort into doing your job, when you can put more effort into not doing it.... And to think 25% of our council tax pays for their golden pension schemes.

Serving in government should not be a career. The more people that get involved over time the better.

"As potential visitor numbers began to grow, concerns emerged about the ability to host such an important exhibition in a relatively small space in a way that it could be fully and safely enjoyed by those wishing to view it." Emphasis added

I'm not familiar with the venue, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. 'twould be nice to see the actual numbers, so that it's easier to assess the claim.

When the hall is full of people just hang a sign up that says so. When people come out then others can go in. I know, too simple.

Some of us are old enough to remember the Monty Python "Hell's Grannies" sketch.  Perhaps they're afraid of them being there with sharp knitting needles

The American Library - A public library war memorial dedicated to the 2nd Air Division of the 8th United States Army Air Forces who were based locally during World War Two.

Explore life in the air and life on the ground through an engaging permanent exhibition. The American Library has books, magazines and events that reflect the amazing diversity of American life and culture. There are PCs for public use and a meeting room available for rent.

Last time I was at Norwich Library (2008ish?)  the foyer had a nice display of brightly painted B-24 assembly ships - https://americanlibraryuk.wordpress.com/2017/05/05/in-the-library-assembly-ships/

Not an issue with displaying 'war stuff'. Most likely they underestimated the size of the display and how many might want to see it. Occam's Razor. This event should have been moved to another room or venue nearby.

You should see the ones who get there for the big knitting events! One lady, Margaret Seaman, has KNITTED models of Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the whole seafront at Great Yarmouth etc etc, and she's 93!

Her stuff is so amazing it's a museum in Wroxham in Norfolk, and she's even been on the Beeb TV because of it. An amazing woman.

Yup
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
