My VFX-WHIF concept based on Robert Beechy's Fixed-Wing VFX

I drew over his drawing to illustrate the design features I was going for, the nose was not lengthened as I had proposed and I did not modify the canopy to the best of my knowledge

That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

LERXs? Not bad . . . I had a similar idea for an upgraded D model ;)

What about the Tomcat as a modular aircraft (i.e. swing wings or conventional, engines, single/ two seat)??

Also, what about a Vietnam 'Cat?
In my opinion, British, Canadian, or USAF markings make things look so much better...

That would make it "Real World".  F-14 equipped VF-1 and VF-2 were on board USS Enterprise and cruising off Vietnam's coast near the end of the conflict.  No bandits were encountered however.

Now is the "What-If?" portion about the F-14 entering service much earlier?

The scanning range of the AWG-9 was so great that, if used as a AWACs aircraft, the aircraft would not need any modification. Iran used it's Cats in this manner during the Iran-Iraq war.

Sure, the AWG-9 has good range, but an AWACS needs to scan the entire sky at short intervals (an E-3 does a scan every 10 seconds). The AWG-9 can only scan a sector in front of the aircraft. That may be enough in some cases (e.g. the Iran-Iraq war).

By "Vietnam cat" I meant an earlier service entry, as well as seeing combat with MiGs.

Burncycle

An AESA radar with an aperture that large would be impressive!

That dual AIM-120 load gives me ideas (coupled, maybe, with the dual AIM-9, would need to check clearances).

That's really cool... looking at the dual sidewinder mount, what about a sidewinder and an AMRAAM instead of the second sidewinder, allowing you to carry two of each and keep your main hardpoint open for bombs, fuel, or a long ranged AAM.

Whats the blue practice round on the bottom of the pylon with twin sidewinders?
