Just like any jigsaw puzzle the pieces need to be sorted out, in the Ravensburger puzzle the pieces are numbered and correspond to the diagram/colour pictures. There's some plastic moulded bits for the roof, turrets and structural supports. The baseboard is cardboard, the jigsaw pieces are made from plastic which I'm assuming can be glued together.
I might need a weathering wash when completed,  there's a few videos on YouTube showing the construction.
Height 20.5 inches/52.5 cm
Width  8.5 inches/21.5cm
Length  15.2 inches/38.7cm

615 pieces in total .

I have started with the Astronomy Tower as it looks easier to build than the Great Hall.

I had a few problems with this build which has resulted in one of the towers being cut to fit, other than that I would advise you not to use the baseboard provided until you have finished. Yes there are a few gaps but you can't really see them unless you are very close. I intend to line the inside with stone paper especially around the rear open arch. A little bit of artistic license to the moulded parts and a light wash to weather it.

I have put the Wesley's ho gauge car in front as a reference to the scale.

My Great Hall isn't quite rectangular shaped at the bottom. The roof fits snuggly in places but it's bowed, this might be due to the fact it's secondhand and might not have been stored correctly. Although it does give it a bit of character the other parts don't line up against it. This means that Hogwarts Castle Hotel will be a Whiff when completed, the buildings will look familiar but not in the correct places within the grounds.
I will be on the look out for a 3D jigsaw puzzle of a Rugby Stadium that I can convert into a quidditch pitch and the Metcalfe Castle set.
