Very cool looking bird ...never seen it before..I like it  ;)
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Most of you will by now have watched one or all of the Harry Potter/ Fanstastic Beasts and where to find them series of films or read the books or listened to the audio books.
Probably thinking what if I can build something for one of the houses or boat, train,  vehicle or aircraft or something that was used or be useful for a witch or wizard in their world.
The worst thing is that the TV series will be out very soon so the next generation gets to experience all the things that were missed out in the previous films.

All the fun of the fair.

I haven't been to a funfair in decades but what if you could design and build your own rides or stalls. You wouldn't need to create the whole thing just a feature and a description of what it's purpose is.

The prototypes or preproduction models that never made it into service or the forecourt.
This opens up a whole range of whiffery by choosing a topic and creating the build to as close as possible to the preproduction or prototype, yes you can change the colour scheme and decals. Nothing straight out of the box is allowed.

Right, just to let you know that I may run the preliminary Poll towards the end of this week, 4th April possibly, because I'm a tad busy next weekend and the following week and don't want to rush it. Also ideas seem to be slowing, but that doesn't mean you should immediately trawl for any old idea just to fill the Poll out, there are 52 choices already.

Thanks

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well, I was thinking of resubmitting one from last year:

Century series. Build any subject from the F-100 to F-109. Alternatively, create your own version that fits the role of one of the century series.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

F110 was the Phantom so that would be quite a few additional options.

A ship in a bottle is a dying art but what if you used a plastic bottle instead. Then you can create your own scene or scenes with their own display case..
By cutting the bottom of the plastic bottle you can slip it over your display base.

I made a 'train in a bottle once', NOT an easy task feeding all the bits through the neck and assembling them INSIDE the bottle with long tweezers!

Sorry it's not clearer, it's a very small model (N Gauge), and a small pic too, and it's in the USA now so I can't re-take the pic.

The speed limit sign in the foreground says '155'.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I wondered about that, possibly taking it up to F-117.

Maybe Century Series Plus as a title. Add in the Phantom,  F-111, maybe F-117.

Quote from: zenrat on March 26, 2025, 03:36:31 AMIt wasn't meant as a suggestion, more an observation.  But OK, go on then.

Scooter already suggested an Operation Downfall GB and given the Red Army would have been included in the fun IRL then surely they would be allowed to partake in whiffery.

As for the other one, make it  an Operation Sea Lion GB (attacking or defending team) as that gives us more scope.  No need to get specific as to a victor.

I wondered if it was meant as an observation, but then thought they were good enough subjects to be included in the Poll.

The Red Army did in fact invade Japanese occupied Manchuria/Northern China in 1945 so could legitimately be included in an Operation Downfall GB perhaps invading the Northern Home Islands ?

I'll simply add Operation Sealion (German invasion of the UK) to the Poll
The Soviets took the southern half of Sakhalin 11 to 25 August 1945.
The Kuril Islands were invaded and taken between 18 August and 2 September 1945.
They had plans for the invasion of the Northern half of Hokkaido, Stalin wanted it to be partitioned with the USSR controlling the north. He was aware that trying to take all of the island would put them in opposition to the US plans, and violate the Potsdam Declaration on Japan's status post-war. Japan would be limited to the four home islands, and whatever other islands that were to be allowed by the Allies. no partitioning was considered. It would probably have been a bigger mess than the partitioning of Korea.

The main problem for the Soviets was a general lack of seapower in the area and a very limited number of available transports. Of the 16 ex-USN LCI used in the Kuril operation Japanese shore based artillery quickly sank five.

fUSSR/Warsaw Pact/Chinese aircraft "acquired" and tested by the Air Force (Constant Peg) as well
The F-106- 26 December 1956 to 8 August 1988
