I use mine. "ping ping".  Scares the heck out of some of the dog walkers I can tell you.
For cars which have just tried to run me down I find shouting abuse and a hand signal has a better result.

The one I have on my Land Rover Moulton would make that one in the pic look like a pin-head.  ;D
