Back in 2009 I persuaded a friend who read the Daily Telegraph to save the coupons for their promotional "1/72 Spitfire",

There is always a use for a Spitfire V. Alas, on opening what appeared was the dreadful "Spitfire Mk. II" vintage 1962!

A nice decal sheet, but a pity about the white letters.
Apart from its crudeness, Revell's fuselage length matches a Mk.IX, but their added length is behind the cockpit rather than in front.

At last I have a cunning plan to make a virtue of a problem., inspired by the Supermarine type 305 proposal of 1936.

So a Spitfire-based copy of the Defiant... also seemingly with the originals' omission of forward-firing guns.
Will you be changing that, or building it as drawn?

Interesting project though, and a good use for that particular kit.

If you had a slightly larger scale pilot, you could make it as a 3/4 or 4/5 scale homebuilt - like the TP-51.

I've been intrigued by the type.305 since I found out about its existence two or three months ago, so I'm really interested to see what it looks like in plastic! I also think that the name "Supermarine Scorpion" is absolutely fantastic
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

For a minute I thought you might be going for an actual tail gunner!
This will a perfect Bad Idea!

Those be the perfectly good way to take something fantastic and make it suck 😆 🤣
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

A copy?
Or an obvious response to the "turret fighter" specification?

Whatever.  Looking forward to it.

My parents read the Torygraph.  I'm disappointed they didn't save up the coupons and send me one...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yup, along with the Hawker Hotspur
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Oh, that's even better/worse!  A tail gunner lying prone with a .303, requirement for short, slender gunners, the plane's nose extended to move the engine forward to balance the weight, longer wings to improve lift due to the greater weight, a port in the tail for the gunner to toss his cookies biscuits when the pilot neglects to warn before drastic maneuvers.  It practically builds itself!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I hope there's an interrupter gear linked to the rudder pedals.  :o  The erks back at the station won't like patching all the self-inflicted holes.
