Here's a 1/72 ESCI Tornado done up as a Waterspout GR.1.  I added a tailhook to the plane, glued the wings in place, and added some Sea Eagles from an Airfix Buccaneer.  I figure this would fly off the RN's CVA-01 class of ships, as well as their new CVF's (had they been procured in the late 90's), until replaced by RN A-12K's.  Like I said, I need to post my carrier airwings in the AH forum eventually.

quite!

i have a similar fate planned for my tornado f3, with a gr4 and an f3 going to the usn as well...

great stuff anthony - surely this has to end at some point though?  :P

If anyone ever comes out with a 1/700 CVF, Skywave makes 1/700 Tornados, both the ADV and IDS types, so I can fit her out with a proper airgroup now that I know how the airgroup would be marked.

looks beautiful! would they have to increase the hieght of the hanger deck to get the "fin" in?

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

They could either increase the roof, or make the tail fold like a Vigilante's or Viking's.

If the RN were to use the Tornado on carriers, wouldn't they have built a multirole version (to make the small air wing as flexible as possible)? Using the ADV fuselage, with added air-ground capability. Designation FRS.1 or FA.1, maybe.

agree with you 100% hobbes...

the f3 for the rn will be that kind of dealy, and the gr4 and f3 for the usn will be an early model (the gr4 without the extra gr4 bits - ie a gr1 in effect), and the f3 will be a late model, with all the gr4 extra bits on it...
