The Fuerza Aerea Venezolana needed representation anyway!

Again.....beauty !

Love that F-20, and it looks even better this time. maybe it's the lighting ? Great job, anyway, buddy !

Awesome paint, awesome weathering, and those markings really lend well to the colours.....I could see a whole ramp full of 'em !

Hopefully my 2 X-29 kits will be in soon, and hopefully I can order a few F-20s as well !

Cheers,

Backstory:  President Luis Herrera Campins of Venezuela purchased a squadron of F-20A Tigersharks because the F-5As and CF-5s purchased used in the early 1970s from Canada were getting old.  This was a "just in case" measure, since the Carter Administration seemed to hem and haw on deciding whether Venezuela could purchase F-16As and F-16Bs.  Eventually the Reagan Administration relented and sold Venezuela the F-16s as part of the PEACE DELTA program.  Venezuela had the enviable position of having two of the premier light Fighter-Bombers in the world in their Air Force.  The Fuerza Aerea Venezolana (FAV) won the respect of the USAF when they participated in RED FLAG with both systems.  The F-20A was given a more powerful engine in the late 1980s and was called the F-20C.  With a radical engineering change, after the success of the X-29 in NASA studies, these modifications were added to the F-20 fuselage- it was called the F-20E.  The two seater version was designated F-20F and made a great anti-shipping/attack/COIN platform.

Escuadron 201 "Tiburones": (201st Squadron "Sharks") F-20A and F-20B squadron based at BASE AEREA EL LIBERTADOR, near Palo Negro, State of Aragua.

Escuadron 202 "Jabalies":  (202nd Squadron "Warthogs") F-20E and F-20F squadron based at BASE AEREA VICENTE LANDAETA, near Barquisimeto.  Local Nickname for the F-20F is "Bagre" (Catfish).
