I have a 1/72 Wyvern on order; I have heard that this Trumpeter kit is great.  Of course it will be a what if - how about this scenario:

The US Navy takes an interest in the Wyvern as a supplement and eventual replacement for the AD Skyrader, and as a substitute for the ill-fated A2D Skyshark.  Hundreds are bought, and are done in the gray over white scheme with colorful markings, as was the AD.  Later, in the 60s, the USAF acquires a bunch for SEA rescue (as per the A-1), and they are in the SEA cammo.

I like!

The rugged, unique-proportioned look of the aircraft also lends itself well to a gloss dark monochrome finish such as overall gloss sea blue or all black.   It'd even look good as one of Batman's aircraft.

The more that comes out about that kit, the better it sounds.  Note to self: Gotta make a trip to Bridgetown Hobbies and Games.

I think sooner or later we should do a group build based on british or other foreign allied aircraft used by the Navy/Marines in WWII.

I'm thinking of some RAF Wyverns flying operations during Operation Firedog, the Malayan Emergency, operating alongside the DH Hornets and stuff. My thinking is that the Wyvern would be a damm fine jungle strike aircraft and ecscort for helicopters, wether in the resupply; SAR or troop insertion missions.

Can we expand it to a generic banana shaped plane build?

Then I can make a Gannet :P

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

You know....it would sure beat the hell out of the Polar Lights reboxing of the old Aurora Batplane...

Viper29: you selling these yet????

I love Hannants but the shipping/handling cost often doubles the order value!

mmm, but TRUMPETER Wyverns are so NOW.

And, hopefully, their 1:48 Wyverns will be "tomorrow"

QuoteRAF Wyverns are so yesterday.

One I prepared some four years earlier.  112 Sqn, RAF Germany, mid 1950s.

Well clearly RCN roundels are in order.

Or even a set of Golden Hawks.

How about Blue Angels?

What might be facinating is desert versions, either IDF or Egyptian, or how about Iran.

What did South Korea markings look like?

Opps, sorry, I did think of one USN type.
