Current project is the UKVG to go with the F-111k as only 50 Vengeance were ordered the over 100 aircraft required were to come from the AFVG design. When France split to do its Mirage 8 we revised the design to become the beefier UKVG.

Much of this design was later incorporated into the MRCA Tornado which was a compromise aircraft with smaller range and payload to suit the more localised german requirements.

Model is an Airfix Tornado F-3 with intakes adapted from a Mirage IV, blended into the wider fuselage, longer wings without a wing glove, even bigger tail !!! :o  and trimmed down tail planes. Cockpit moved further forward and new U/C fitted.

(PS its the smaller single seater in the background currently being adapted to a possible moulding master)

The master strikes again. What a beautiful model. Look so very mean sitting there.

Did look at 6 Sqdn but noticed the tail stripe, not sure that would fit on this fin so went with a similar Sqdn  that started on tomms and went to jags. 6 will be used on the other little one i mentioned earlier  ;)

Man that looks good. At first glance you say oh it's another Tornado but then you look a bit closer and whammo What if!!!!!!!!!!!

Fintastic keep em coming
Get this Cheese to sick bay!

NARSES2

Looks better with those intakes in my opinion - great work Geoff.

Is your plan to build a collection of all the aircraft the RAF might have had ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks great Geoff, especially with the old school colour scheme

Another marvellous piece of scratchbuilding

Nothing more I can add, Geoff... the guys have said it all.

Very, very inspirational, believable and well executed WhIf.

very nice Geoff, any in progress pics? I like to see the different bits & pieces involved

These do you Mike ?

As you can see it s bog standard Airfix F-3 with the wing gloves removed, the wings extended to full length and the corresponding slot lengthened to accomdate them' the cockpit is shunted further forawad by a couple of mm's.  Then intakes are added from a Mirage IV with the upper inside built up abit to allow for a flatter top surfacr eo blend into the tornado fuselage, the Fuselage sides are then built up and reshapad to meet the new intakes and blend in with them. New tail created and undercarriage constructed in similar pattern to the jaguars but with different wheels.

Note if you intend to try one, fill in the inner surface of the main wheel wells to allow full clearance for the bomb racks (When you create new conversions these is a certain element of trial & error involved that somethimes dosen't show itself until later :( )

I'm wondering where my original post went. I posted after Thor's first picture and it seems to have disappeared. Ah well, as I said before Brilliant job Thorvic.

Very interesting subject and I must say that you should be given some kind of official commendation for your incredible scratch-building abilities.  This latest cration is really outstanding.  Got a question about the air to surface missile shapes that are attached to the model.  They look like an AS30 with a very pointed nose.  Was this a special version of the AS30 or something completely different?
