Two interesting what ifs - one from the 50s and the other from the 80s.

Very cool!  I've thought about doing something similar with my newly acquired Trumpeter Wyvern.

Ditto.  Just got my Wyvern yesterday.  Never would have thought of that idea, though.

Are these your models, Wes?

Fantastic concepts and execution!

Those are my models, just recently finishing them.  Don't know why the photos came out so large.

Lurking behind is an "RB-53", based on the German E-555.  Will post a photo of that next.

I have another Wyvern on order, and it will be in SEA cammo, fitted out as for the A-1 "Sandy" role.

Premise:  After WWII, the US got several Arado (?) E-555s, and found that the design was so advanced, it would make a good recon bomber.  It was called the RB-53, and was improved upon (new engines) by ________ (fill in the likely US manufacturer).  It used an early turbofan design, and was used in the later stages of the Korean war.

I take it those are A-10 engines?

THe Tornado looks like its got a new nose as well, RF-4?

Ok so I think the Wyren is fantastic (needs sharksmouth ?) and then along comes the Arado - flying wings

Brilliant stuff

Those are great! Gotta admit the Wyvern looks real good in those markings. And that Arado...

Here is another shot of the Wyvern - total What if markings.  The theory here is that the A2D Skyshark never made it (which is true), but the USN was still intent on getting a turboprop attack aircraft, and purchased several thousand Wyverns - this came in handy in the 60s when a bunch were given to the USAF to use in SEA - that version is coming soon.

Hey, are you missing the wingtip lights?  :o
Can't recall if the kit came with clear bits for those or not...

"... and was used in the later stages of the Korean War."

Assuming that the Air Force kept up with engine upgrades and so forth, they could be re-armed and used for the night interdiction role in Vietnam.  I can see that in one of those B-57 "Patricia Lynn" schemes with SEA uppers and black underneath.  Hmm... is this kit still available?

Hey Jason, two of the ideas for my Wyverns a Korean war machine, latter stages same as yours and  in the same role as the Malaya as the A1's did in Vietnam,  Although my Malayan ones will be strike aircraft as well as SAR escorts.  Dammit!! Where did I see that Belvedere the other daty? Gotta get one for a diorama now.....
