Quick shot of this weeks project, the BAE 1234-2 a jet powered SABA (Small Agile Battlefield Aircraft).  Developed to counter the Soviet Helicopter gunships and their escort choppers like the Hokum and to protect out own. Secondary role to provide Close Air Support to our armoured forces.

Most of the designs considered used a small turbo prop but this one had a turbo jet instead. To keep it cheap it appears as if they took the nose from the Harrier as a basis coupled to a new small fuselage with a strong straight wing.

Armed with a pair of ASRAAM and 4 x Rapier AT (Anti-tank versions of Rapier) plus a 20mm cannon under the nose.

Cheers

These are the Drawings found in BSP: Bombers by Tony Buttler.

Parts from a Harrier GR-5 (rest going towards an AV-16) and a scap Novo Supermarine Attacker for the rear fuselage and wings, trimed and reshaped accordingly.

Wow, thats pretty neat.  Like a cross between a Harrier, an A-10 and a JSF

I love the way Geoff starts off with "this weeks project" ! Great effort mate and actually looks as though the RAF could have afforded this one. Almost Hasagawa "Egg Plane" like.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Simply fantastic Thor. As ever your skills are awe inspiring.

Holy crap! I thought you had butchered a Hawk 200 for giggles at first but wow! The sucker is real! You are simply amazing. Someone said something about bowing... I agree!

I had a quick look the other day and thought that it was one of those novelty egg aircraft.

I have now had a really good look and holy cow. It looks great

Discovering lately this topic, I agree: this little fat model is very cute    , seducing me like a lovely caricature, an eggplane model of the Hawk200 with twin fins for fun... For sure it was too cute   to be officialy selected by an Air Force - this World is so sad :( . You modellers provide the missing smile, with beauty furthermore. Thanks.
