Mirage 2000 "Belette Sauvatage" (Wild Weasel)

It's fun because tonight I descover it by myself!!

It's quite impossible to do interior details with such a model, and I'm not good enough for this job.

So I searched an aother solution and I find it when I saw a picture of the EF-111 Raven.
I don't know what it was, but this bird had a "bump" under the plane, instead of the weapon's bay.

So tonight I scratch such a "bump" (what's the real word for that??) and I fix it intsead of the guns.

I have to sand it a little and I post you a picture.

The object you are describing is the fairing or cover for the additional electronic warfare equipment that is mounted in the former weapons bay of the EF-111. This fairing or cover is also transparent to electronic signals which is necessary for the use of the receivers and transmitter antennas that need to be exposed in order to function properly. Perhaps a small "BUMP" is in order for your "Belette Sauvatage" since the miniaturization of electronics has come a long way since the EF-111/EA-6B were designed and produced.

They referred to electronics fairing on the ef-111 and the ra-5c as a "canoe" (or in french, canoë).

i'm all in favour of lumps and bumps on planes, and am finding the development of your "belette" very interesting!

interestingly, i'm doing a reversal of your idea, making an ea-6b prowler into a 2 seat long range bomber/interdictor.

Ah, you mean the A-6F. ^_^

The A-6F was mainly an A-6E re-engined with F404's in place of J52's. What retro_seventies is propsoing is a conversion of the EA-6b's larger airframe into a two-seat attacker with greater range or an even more impressive avionics; either taking advantage of the space occpied by the thrid and fourth seats. Add in an F404 installation and it'd be quite a performer, especially with the extra har points the later ones had for ARM's or whatever.

Your Mirage looks very cool! I like the direction your headed. My idea for a Mirage is to add Tomcat wings to the leading edge. It would have happened by now, but it is MIA. Keep us up to date when you can. B)

I don't remember the story, but I'm sure that Dassault had build and fly 3 or more Mirage with such wings (Mirage G with one engine, Mirage G-8 one seat, 2 engines, Mirage G-4, 2 seats, 2 engines: a very big one!!!). It's funny, 'cause this Mirage is the only one who have to become an Electronic Jammer specialist... Like mine!!!

Those planes were just prototypes and never have all their electronics (just the Mirage F1's electronic for one proto). But the wing concept was sell to Panavia for its Tornado

And one of those plane also have the European record of speed for a fighter (Mach 2,35)
Or has the Typhoon take it??

One of my what-if project is to build a derivated Mirage G: I want to transform a Mirage F1 with swing-wing.

For my current project, I work, I work, but not as much as I wanted.
When I start, I tought I have 2 weeks to build it, but I have to go in Normandy this Monday, so I have a lot of things to do (2 weeks of plans reduce in juste 5 days

)
I fear that I wont finish until middle of July. But I promess you a picture tomorrow, with the "Canoë" and the Super 530 pylons I just scratch. Under the are intakes, the S530 give to the Mirage a look of Lithning!!

While I was shooting some photo of my model, it falls abd breaks!!

And I'm still searching for the 2 wings pod I lost...

It's not very simple, but I spend my day trying to repair what I can. For the tail, I think I do a good job. For the missile's pylons, it was a little more difficult, but with few putty, I can't see any probleme: I'm happy for that.

But I haven't find the wing's pods !!!! I chearch in the whole room, everywhere!!! It's not possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pffffffffff!

I will spend an other day to rebuild them. So: 2 days lost!! And I didn't have a lot of time before that !!

Oh! It's nothing! I will finish after my journey in Normandy

So, I hope I can post a picture tomorow. The plane will have no wing pods, but 3 tanks and the 2 Super 530!! I know some of you will love it !!

Your missing pods have dissapeared down that nasty little thing called the modellers black hole, theat nasty little rip in space/time which sucks in all measure of dropped little parts. Perhaps one of these days a prope will be sent through and find this mountain of missing arts just sitting there.

But no pods...

So, there are the pictures of the Mirage Wild Weasel, but without wing's pods

But just for your pleasure, I fix the tanks and missile, just to see how it will looks like when I'll finich it.
You kust have to imagine it with desert camo and 2 Magic and 2 GPS-bombs in more

For the final model, I think it will be a flying one, with no landing gears.
I know that I have no pilot, but I need the gears to scratch those for my Rafale.

I also have to buil a ... I don't know how it's called. Something to hide the plane in flying position, you see??

I don't believe in the black hole theory, either...I think that there's a 'carpet monster' in all our carpets, just waiting for good stuff like that to drop.

Great looking model, btw....I love a/c with all sorts of 'junk' hanging !
