Here's an old one of mine. A CF-16 (CF-166) Falcon.

What if's are still hard for me to do so the only way around it is to do them as realistic as possible. Weapons, markings and the aircraft have to be rooted in what was happening at the time the a/c is supose to be in service.

Since the F-18 and F-16 were the two finalists I did a CF-16. Paint was the same as the CF-18 and the squadron is one of the ones that went to the CF-18 as well.

I didn't like the fact there were nostencils on this one so many years ago it was repainted RDAF.  :(

I'm doing a new CF-16B as we speak. Same colours, different scheme and markings. Look for more info in the discussion forum.

Welcome aboard and Nice CF-16, as you'll note we have a few Canadian members who like the Canuck F-16 as a subtle difference to the usual F-18.

As for keeping it as close to the fact as possible, then there is nowt wrong with that many of us tend to bases are models on fact or real projects. Just due to the fates they never made it into service or off the drawing board. Others scratch build or kit bash subjects that might have been and yet more develop their own flihght of fancy based on an inspiring idea. All are welcomed under the "What-If" umbrella.

Cheers

Welcome to the nut house

What if is easy..just open your mind and let the ideas flow. Sod what any one else says about what u do with your kits...we have a saying here (invented by Wooksta) MFM (My Frigging Model).
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Not from what I see: great job (yeah, I know what you meant by them being hard for you to do for other reasons but your execution of the CF-16 / CF-166 /Canadian Freighter Sweet Sixteen---whatever....clearly deserves the compliment).

Welcome aboard!  Perhaps you can help me make my own What Ifs a little more practical----------good luck with that as I am a bit Baztastic ™

Heh, we're of somewhat similar minds.  I'm an engineer and I find I have trouble doing a "what-if" I can't see as firmly grounded in technical reality.  Mind you, it can be altered considerably from the history we "know" but it has to be technically sound for me to consider it and not have any achronic items either.

Sir... or Ms,
What a loverly 16 you have created. I can't wait to see your next incarnation.

Re the realistic as possible. Lots of that going on here and mountains of respect for the folks who do so. Myself, I'm not quite so good at that particular brand of What-iffery, but that's simply a skill level thing on my part. I'm here for the fun, the great gang of folks and the sometimes serious stuff that deserves great credit, like yours.

Welcome to the looney bin.

Wellcome to Madhouse.

As for your approach to WIF's we're a Broad Church and there's room for all, and as the Wookster will tell you the really good ones (WIFs as opposed to Projects)are the ones that make people stop and think

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Very nice!

Another member of the CF-166 family!  So since it's a CF-166B, that makes it a Freedom Falcon.

Nice bird NaOH, another addition to the growing CF166 family.

And welcome aboard. You'll find lots of nice and friendly people here, although some might seem strange at first :P

Beauty !

Another Canadian, are we ? Or just a fan of the leafy roundel, which is also quite acceptable !

Great job on the weathering as well. Looks like you forgot to do one missile, tho...ii kinda stands out, with no markings or weathering !

But I'm not complaining.....of all the CF-166s here so far, that's gotta be my favourite ! We should have a whole CF-166 section, and then we'd be more H.....uh, I won't go there !
