Here's one of the projects I'm working on. It's a Lightning F.53 in Saudi markings, painted light gray instead of the usual NMF. I'll add a backstory when I finish the project: it still needs some missiles (it's going to have a nonstandard missile fit).

Is that the beauty little Revell 144th scaler ?

Great job !

If he answers "yes" I'll eat my beard!
No way that could be THAT good at 1:144 scale!!

Or could it?

Love those markings and the whole unexpected look of the finish (BMF is great but after that's how nearly every one of a given subject has been, a change of pace sure is refreshing).

Yes, it's the Revell 1:144, so start munching, JHM
It's a beautiful kit, lovely crisp panel lines, went together well too.

Well then, I've learned three things:

1. Your decalling skills at 1:144th are better than anything I can do, even at 1:72!

2. You have a very good digicam.

3. My beard tastes positively horrid.

Thank you all for the kind words!

JHM:
I didn't do anything special about the decals, just applied them with some decalsetting solution (amazing, the difference that makes - the decals on all my previous aircraft look horrid in comparison).
The camera is a Fuji S5000, the good picture is thanks to its macro facility (the lens was 10 cm from the Lightning when I took that picture) and some very favorable lighting conditions (the model was sitting in direct sunlight).

Oh yeah, one more thing about that photo. I took that only a few minutes before I posted it, ie at about 19:45, with the sun very low over the horizon. The Lightning's nose cone is pointing straight at the sun.
The (totally unintended) effect is that the panel lines are very visible because there's shadows in them. Got to remember that for the next time.

cool looking Lightning. hard to believe it's only 1/144 scale but I'll take your word for it  ;)
