Bought a Heller Viggen at Duxford and I have the idea to do it as an RAF Viggen GR1 this would involve transplanting the large drop-tanx from the Heller Mirage III/5 kits, adapting outboard pylons to take twin 'winder rails and using the photo-recce nose supplied in the kit.

Now what about painting the beast.... my personal fave is a wraparound DSG/DG scheme with a pattern based upon the F-4, and wearing 41 Sqn red bars and lo-vis roundels.

Your opinions valued as always my friends!

Da#$!  It's already been taken!  I guess you'll have to stick with Viggen GR.1.

As the Viggen can perform both Fighter and Strike roles wouldn't it be FGR-1 as per the phantom. BTW the RAF did seriously consider the Viggen in the early 70's, but we already had our Jags by then.

Camo
an obvious one would be the winter scheme with the DG being replaced by a temporary white finish.

Cool idea. I've been toying with doing a Draken in an alternate winter scheme of grey/white wraparound.   What do ya think??

Sorry Ian, I hijacked your thread for a sec. Anyway, I like your idea for a wraparound cammo'd Viggen.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Actually, Viggen is 'the hammerblow of Thor'. Thunderbolt works, so does thunderclap.

I'm looking forward to seeing it Ian, I got a USMC Viggen in the (far) future.

Go for it Ian, it will look great amongst my BAF and my soon to be finished (I hope  ;) ) CAF Viggens.
I'd go with the Desert pink scheme as sugested by Radish.

QuoteAs the Viggen can perform both Fighter and Strike roles

Don't forget the PhotoRecce version, also included in the kit.

It's a Viggen: anything you do with it will end up fabulous!

Go for it, Ian !

The F-4s of the RAF in their camo were one of the nicest looking a/c ever...so the Viggie done up that way would look awesome !

Build it....build it now !
