My first attempt at photoshop, the USS Manhattan

Be nice, it's my first real fiddling with Photoshop.  ;)

The USS Manhattan was originally laid down in 1928 at both the Brooklyn Navy Yards and the Wingfoot Lake Hanger facility. It was an attempt to go one step beyond even the audacious dreams of the USS Acron and Macon, that were then only just in the blueprint stage.

Moving beyond merely the extended scout concept, the USS Manhattan would mate the striking power of a full airwing (40 aircraft) with the speed and versatility of the blimp. A new doping process was used as well as secrets in lift technology that are classified even to this day. It is rumored that what began with the USS Manhattan culminated in the modern day USS Halsey class Stealth Airborne Aircraft Carriers (SAAC).

Here the newly christened USS Manhattan has hurried to San Francisco to deal with the machinations of the insidious Red Death airwing of pirates that had been plaguing the West Coast for a few weeks. Arriving before the "wet" navy, the Manhattan was instrumental in helping to bring the Red Death to trial.

She went on to greater fame in World War 2 when she managed to get within a whisker's width of the Japanese fleet at the battle of the Coral Sea and launched a full strike that caught both the Shokaku and Zuikaku as they were leaving the area. This, coupled with the success at Midway, are credited with helping to end the war in the Pacific in early 1945 without forcing the choice to use Atomic weapons.

Nice twin-airship :)
I try to understand with Google's help what was the USS Manhattan 'officially' and this is a boat, not an airship that would have been doubled with Photoshop. I don't understand - maybe it is very famous in the US, not worlwide yet. No matter, the result is nice, and you will explain probably the source of your Photoshoping. :)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Well, the USS Mahattan was built from pics of the USS Akron and the USS Lexington.  ;)

I decided that since Akron and Macon were cities to keep with that theme and then I figured, well this is the biggest airship ever, so go with the biggest US city.  I considered making it the "boroughs" class of airships, but I Brooklyn had already been a cruiser in RL History for like, decades.

Still, the image of a bunch of surly airshipmen insulting their enemies during combat with "The Bronx!!!" emblazoned across the bow is somehow tempting.

Sickly enough, I have plans to make this plastic, the question has just been which scale.  I have a huge collection of divine scale, but that would still be a really big ship.

Great job!!!!
It remind me the Angelina Jolie's Air Corp in Sky Captain !!

Very classy idea and nice touch with the Photoshop, too, Proditor!

I like it Airships have always fascinated me - but did they pinch half of that bridge to build it  :P

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I made a new one today during a slow spot.

As the war in the east continued, more Byzantine Nazi machines made their presence felt on the battlefield. With rumors of 1500 ton tanks in the works in Germany, Stalin decided he needed an equalizer. The IS-3 was already one of the most powerful tanks in the world, even the dreaded King Tiger had to tread lightly when the IS-3 was around. Since the tank was also named after him, Stalin instructed that it should be used as the basis for a new "Super Stalin" that would bounce 88mm shells like popcorn and reply with TWIN 122 mm cannons!

While there were some initial problems developing enough raw power to move the tank, it was finally resolved with the addition of a modified Double Wasp aircraft engine that gave the Super Stalin unparalleled capability. Able to hit 40 mph on roads and 20 cross country, it was faster than most contempory tanks, armored to a level greater than any 2 enemy tanks combined, and it outgunned literally everything else in service that wasn't a Naval Cruiser...

The example below is from the May Day parade of 1946 in Moscow. Stalin had already started saber rattling and it is arguable that if the USA had not been in possession of the advanced lift technology that allowed them to send their Airborne Aircraft Carriers around the world in hours and the A-bomb, we might have all ended up eating Bortsh by the 50's.

Your zwilling tank brings new meaning to the phrase "Land Yacht."  I'm sure it drives like a naval cruiser also!

Scale that thing up just a tad, and you've got a good basis for an early-model Bolo.

I'm Photoshop crazy!  :D

This photo was taken by a Doctor H. Jones in the deserts of Egypt in 1936. Any inquires as to the results of the simultaneous American archeological expedition in the area should be referred to the Department of Homeland Security.

What is common knowledge is that this picture depicts the first Nazi walkers in use to support the Gotha GO-219 flying wing bomber, originally designed for that firm by the now famous Horten Brothers. The walker is a blitzen model originally designed for fast support of advancing infantry and light scouting. Armed with a 20mm cannon and a 3 shot 60mm mortar, it was considered a revolution until it faced actual tanks in combat. As with most walkers used during the war, it was fast, but fragile.

(Man Photoshop is fun!! The plane is from Raiders of course, the mini is from DP9's Gear Kreig line and painted by Agis Neugebauer. The compositing is all me and much fun.)

Julhelm

Has someone ever built that plane from the movie?
