Saw this a number of years ago, and have been tempted a time or two, but balk at the masking...

I always liked that "Super Chicken" paint job but it would be a bear to paint by hand.

That is one of the all-time great, impossible-to-model paint jobs, right up there with WW1 USN dazzle:

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

hmmm...impossible???  Is that a gauntlet thrown ????

Yet another urban legend.  That was NOT in Afghanistan. That was a Hungarian AF aircraft painted up in 2002 (-ish) for a squadron anniversary or something.  It was DEFINITELY in Hungary, not Afghanistan.

Pretty cool, eh?  Apparently the Hungarian AF is looking for make-work projects for their aircraft engineers...

Just ordered the 1/48th...yep, I am breaking my cardinal rule of only doing 72nd's.  (sigh)
It does say that it is Hungarian...where did the afghan thing come from?

Offhand, I would say that making decals for this would be even worse.  Whoever can do this particular livery shall be called "King of the masochists and sovereign of all those who enjoy deep root canals without novacaine" .  :dum:

Farther down the text it notes that the Mi-24 was used in Afghanistan but not that it was the special scheme bird.

LOL...might have to do it just so I can shed the whole "white zinfandel" thing...

There was a Hind on display at the Avon show on Sunday that was marked up very similarly to that Hundarian bird. I'll post a pic once I get my films developed.

Hey Greg, where did you in-progress thread for this one go?
I tried searching under "Mi-24" and "helicopter" but found only this original thread; not the one where you showed your incredible paint-job on the go for this one.

Many thanks, BlackOps.
I should have used the search term "helo" of course...

Greg, any progress on this build?
