Does anyone have any artist's impression of a F-35B/C carrying their gunpods?

Not just the gunpod itself, but the aircraft carrying the gunpod...... let's just say that I'm looking for inspiration......

IIRC that was from an old Proceedings SlideShow from www.ndia.org
I can't remember the year, though. And I couldn't find it complete in my HD. It is 2007 or previous. I believe the muzzle exit in the pod is in the lower half, inline with the rear mechanism.

As for helical ammo feed, I seem to remember that the gun pods first fitted on F-4s in VN after TopGun had them.

This is one of the first iterations of the "missionized gun pods" designs for USMC F-35s. I believe there followed at least one variation, but the form factor and location are the same.

Has anyone tried to add a 2D exhaust to the F-35 in any scale?  I was looking at the Panda kit yesterday and got to wondering how easy it would be to graft on the 2D parts from the F-22 and do away with that huge hole in the back end that exists on that kit.

The 2D nozzle from the F-22 is much smaller than the normal Nozzle on the F-35. One should scale-o-rama if you should fit the 2D nozzle on an F-35.

The F-35A (CTOL version) does. 



For the other versions, it was not deemed essential - in both cases removing reduces weight.

Full stealth mode would still be used for the so-called "Day-1" missions - this is for the "Day-2 (or 3 or 4...) when you don't need full stealth - ie, when the enemies defences are down.

There were some comments made on another forum recently about the not so stealthy engine exhaust section of the F-35 JSF and it got me to thinking about what could be done to adapt a two dimensional exhaust nozzle from the F-22 cRaptor to the back end of the F-35.  The exhaust parts from the F-22 cRaptor could be adapted to fit the F-35 without too much effort.

Has anyone considered this for one of their WHIF JSF projects?

I recommend you zoom in on the tail area of the second one - anyone want to try to replicated that faceting/sawtooth exactly???
