That's an extremely handy set of piccies Greg, thanks for posting.  :thumbsup:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

No kidding!! I remember seeing pics of the F-35 at the roll out and thinking "whoa! They took that cute little X-35 and made it into a war machine!!" You can really see it in these pics Thanks Greg!

Maybe some are aerodynamic test aircraft, which might need a probe to get undisturbed airflow info., and the others are engine or weapons systems test vehicles that may not?

Is that a steam cat or an EM one? There's no sign of any steam coming through the slots as you'd expect.

Its a Steam Cat for the F-35C trials, the EMALS trials wont happen till both systems have been checked and certified. EMALS testing is using current known USN cat proven aircraft and F-35 is using the proven Steam Cat facility

Good heavens, the USN using a sensible, logical approach to a testing programme for once! I'm suitably impressed for a change.

Where do you find the info on the EM cats please? My old employers developed the technology but I think they sold off the Division to someone else as 'It wasn't included in our core technology portfolio going forward' or other such busnospeak.  :banghead:

And I could swear I read an article in AFM a couple of years ago that they already funded a programme whereby the F-35 could be piloted from the ground. Can't find it, though.  :banghead:
