Good luck with the Max Decals, they are the most fragile decals I have ever used.

I got the Irish Air Corps set for use on my Stingbat and Mil-17 helicopters and by god, they fall apart quicker than an Essex girls legs!

Right, as far as I'm aware, the IAC had Spits and even some early British jets like the Vampire.  How about replacing them with A-4's (the A-4I?) in the late 60s?

The Scooters are later upgraded and fitted with new radar in the early 1980s.  Not on a par with the A-4Kahu upgrade by the RNZAF, but maybe something like using Blue Fox radar, a Harrier-style RWR and carrying AIM-9L and Maverick, as well as maybe Sea Skua anti-ship missiles?

and look something like this:

Nice, i like the idea of the A-4 in Irish air corps service, and ive been thinking, maybe to replace them (and provide them with a supersonic fighter) they could have bought 8 off my Mig-32 Flamers

because there's no room for the traditional roundel on the fuselage, ive painted them on the tail, and a irish flag in the nose.  -_-

i know it looks a little strange  :)

I do like Davey IAAC Scooters. My idea is for IAAC Hawk 200's as a cheap interceptor/dogfighter. BaE 146's for Maritime patrol and fisheries protection

maybe these cessna C-172AN skyhawks (AN standing for Anti-Narcotics) for observation and light COIN tasks (not really a what iff, but a repaint and upgrade off the excisting 172's in service)
fitted with 1 FN-MAG machine gun on the door, 4 light 50lbs bombs and Chaff/Flare dispensers in the tail. in 2005, an additional 5 aircraft were bought for Coastal patrol duties  ^_^

not bad hey  :D

Lance, in my own Little Twisted World™ the Hawks would be the replacement for the A-4, say around 1995?  Hawk 200s would provide fighter/attack while Hawk 100s would fly as trainers, Forward Air Control and general close air support with cluster bombs and either AS-30L or laser-guided Mavericks being designated by that FLIR/LRMTS thing in the nose.  MR/AEW would come from the Briten-Norman Maritime Defender and AEW Defender

We are thinking way to closely for comfort on this one Davey. I had ideas on similar lines

and now I've uploaded a few 3-views onto what laughingly passes as my website (more an exercise in photo storage) here's the aforementioned Hawk 200:

How about two overwater schemes for your Hawk 200.

One with darker blue-greys and grey-greens for working the East coast of the Irish Sea - EDSG/Dk Slate Grey/Ocean Grey, (you could put Emerald Green & Orange invasion stripes on it for the Manx Invasion Scenario that the voices in my head say I must write-up one day).

The West coast aircraft could be in a more blueish scheme - Ocean Grey/PRU Blue/Barley Grey.
Just a thought or two.

Well as I'm awaying myself to the cinema on Saturday to see Serenity (and maybe Wallace & Gromit too :P ) I'm sorely tempted to go early and hunt for a Hasegawa A-4F to butcher...

Sorry for the late post, but this was just running through my mind.

For the '50s I have them getting Hunters and Lansens. 60's would have F-5s and F-104's, maybe A-4's later. After that I'm stumped. Maybe Mirage 3's, Harriers, or Crusaders. And of course, somewhere in there I have to give them the ubiquitous Skyraider, just because I can!
