Right well she's finished and I can honestly say this model is the one I'm happiest with my results so far. It was an $8 Arii kit and went together perfectly, I know the profile isn't perfectly accurate but it looks like a Spitfire to me, and was just one of this builds that fell together. I don't think I used any filler, alot of the pieces practically snapped together. The only downside is the canopy is real thick and distorted, and of course once again I managed to get dust stuck to the inside of it.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Finally got a satisfactory result from the wash/weathering process. I used a wash of Windsor and Newton artists acrylics with a little dish soap in it. Brushed it on the panel lines and let dry for ten minutes, then took a q-tip with one end slightly moistened in the wash and rubbed off what i didn't want, flipping from the moist to the dry end of the q-tip. Then I drew directly on the plane with pastel chalks in brown, yellow, grey and light blue and rubbed with my finger and or the dirty q-tip. The pics don't show it well but it has some great subtle tonal qualities. Sealed with Testors dullcote which as I should have learned by now always makes things alot darker but that's OK 'cos I feel at least I know now how to do it in a way which makes me happy.

Leigh that's one gorgeous Spit! Your daughter will love it! I'm really impressed with your scratched cameras and weathering. That's one Spit that's totally "in the pink".

P.S. What are Twiglets? Some kind of pretzel?

NARSES2

Leigh that is absolutely gorgeous - my favourite plane in one of my favourite colour scheme

The camera looks the bee's knees as well and thanks for the tip about the clear stuff from shirt colars.

Agree with having to stop for Rome, two things I won't miss on telly currently - Rome on wednesday's we are on episode 4 and the omnibus of Bleak House on sunday's - the Beeb at it's Dickensian best

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Unfortunately 'Rome' clashes with Atlantis and a couple of other prodrams that  I watch on a Wednesday

I agree with you, the Arii/Otaki/Matchox/Airfix kit is great....goes together well and looks good. i've bought lots cheap ready for Whatiffery, as they build so beautifully. A couple will be real though.

lovely pink one though

AMAZING!!!!!!

you've surpassed yourself (again!) here Leigh.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, you've catapulted yourself into the top tier of modellers on this site.  I hold you in the same esteem I hold the likes of JHM and Cthulu77.

Fantastic, beautiful Spit

may I suggest that for next years pink plane you do the Lightning T-bird with the Pink Tail and Flamingo markings?  I would love to see you do that with the Airfix Lightning and Aeroclub conversion
