Hello everybody!!

Months ago, in a topic about the Anigrand Mirage 4000, I spoke about what a Mirage 4000-5 could look like if only the Mirage 4000 was bought by someone...

After finding a picture of a RSAF Tornado, I thought about this scheme on a Mirage and so...

There is my Mirage 4000-5 in Royal Saudi Air Force service...
In 1988, the RSAF chose the Mirage 4000 as second main fighter (instead of the Tornado)...
A total of 88 Mirage 4000-C and 20 Mirage 2000-B were bought to complete the F-15 forces.

Both the Eagle and the Mirage serves in the Gulf War, having a total of 23 kill (10 for the Mirage)...

After the Gulf War, RSAF wanted to buy more F-15, in the F-15S type... Indeed, Saudian were very impressed by the skill of the USAF F-15E during the war... But Dassault proposed to RSAF it's new version of Mirage, the Mirage 4000-5...
With the new missile MICA, the aircraft could be able of stealth interceptions at long range; the RDX-3 radar will be a full-option system, able of air-to-air, air-to-ground and anti-ship missions... An IRST with laser designation ability is mounted on the nose of the plane and the total payload will be grater than the F-15S one...

Even if the Mirage was 12% more expensive that the F-15S, RSAF bought 72 Mirage 4000-5 instead of the F-15S...

In air to air CAP, the Mirage 4000-5 has 3 external tanks of 3000 litres and a maximum of 14 MICA IR/EM, using twin-ejector-rack pylons...
In interdiction mission, the Mirage could carry 8 GBU-24 bombs, 2 external tanks, 4 AS-30L missiles (or 6 Maverick) and 2 MICA IR for self defense...

About the plane:
It's the sixth Mirage 4000-5 ever build, and the fourth one the RSAF received.
Flying with the 55sq at King Khalid Air Base, the aircaft is specialised in air-to-ground  missions, because of it's pilote's trainings.
With the 6sq, equiped with F-15C, the 55sq's pilotes are the first front line against the Ethipian attacks and they will serve at war more soon that they all expect...

The n°704 Mirage is actually shown in is 1998 scheme, just few years before its first kill marking. Later, it will also receive another fixed FLIR, but under the nose...

About the drawing:
I wasn't able to finding a good profile of Mirage 4000, so I had to draw the lines by myself... It was a long job, but interesting: I imagine what an operationnal Mirage 4000 could be, with a modified tail (the Mirage 2000 one was modified after the first tests...), an air-refueling system (can see under the cokpit ;) ) etc etc...
As I said before, I did the Tornado camo, even if I know that Dassault probably have done a more light scheme (the Mirage 4000 is a more high-altitude capable fighter than the Tornado)... I just think this camo looks very good, I hope you'll lie it...
For the weathering, it was the first time I try, and I think the result is good...
This plane had to be in service for years, so I think the weathering is not to much.. (I hope so :P )

So, I just hope you enjoy it. It was very funny to draw it   and now that I already draw the line and the weatering, I think I could do another camo... whatever you want!! Just have to ask me ;)

How do you say "splendid" in French?!

This is great.  Your camo could be used on a wide variety of airframes with equal success.

Splendide!

How about a Canadian one, eh?

:P    ;)

That's really great, PD7!!  Good job!

Now, do one in 171st Squadron, Michigan Air National Guard colors  :dum:

Quotedo one in Michigan Air National Guard colors  :dum:
In CAPITAL letters, that would be a Mirage 4000 MAN-G, and I wonder  : what would be our JHM Mirage 4000 MAN-OH, Michigan Air National Ohio or Ontarioh    . John Howling Mouse may tell us the coulors, PolluxD7 may do it, we may dream :D ... From the clouds, Eng. Marcel Dassault is smiling at us :) , I guess... ^_^

Well, I think 2 natural Mirage 4000 users would be Canada and Australia.  They both chose the F-18 over the F-16 due to its twin engines, but have been disapointed with the lack of range of the Hornet.  No such problem with the M4K.

Thats why my (first?) M4K will be RAAF.

Me and Geoff were talking on MSN last night about a 2 seat Mirage 4000D strike aircraft...

Waoh!! I'm happy you love it!!

OK, for the next, it probably will be a French one (somebody on a French forum ask me ;))... but just after it, I probably go for a RAAF one. Any idea for the camo?? I want to avoid the basic grey camo if it's possible... ;)

And I promess a CAF one and even a MANG, why not... You have some picture of the scheme of the 171st Squadron fighters, anthony??  :P

For the Mirage 4000-D, I already working on it ;) The RAAF one will probably be a "D" ;)

Beautiful Pollux, just beautiful.....I can see I'm going to have to spend out on a couple of M4K's now...

PD7, you should check out this page of alternate RAAF camo schemes

I will probly do my M4K as a "fighter" in the classic French grey/blue wraparound, but I ever do a 4000D, I want to do it in one of those "jungle" schemes

Oh, btw, that RSAF bird looks fantastic!

I need to get a Mirage 4000... somehow!

And do it Canadian.  Problem is, what scheme to choose?

Standard CF-18?  Demo bird?  Like a Voodoo?

Thanks for the F-111 camo, nev...
There are also those from our friend Gekko website...
But I don't know how to chose!
EDIT: I actually did my choice: it will be something like this one ;)

For Ollie, don't worry mon ami, je le ferais...
It could be a standard fighter, or maybe a long-range maritime strike fighter for Canadian Navy? I also tought about an experimental snow/winter scheme for a fighter/attack M4k...
Is there one or some Quebec squadron with French or French/English marking??

Oh!! I just forgot: I don't know very much about the differents Canadian and Aussies squadrons... So if you want one specially, give me a link or a real picture of Hornet ;)

Specially for Nev, a Mirage 4000 in a grey/blue scheme ;)

It is the Mirage 4000-5 n°518 (12-YG), the 15th delivred to the Armée de l'Air...  Like the other Mirage 4000-5 in service in French air force, this "-5" is an ex-Mirage 4000 C, retrofited in 1997 with MICA missiles, IRST system, RDX-3 AESA radar, more powerfull engines and increased payload.

With 35 other Mirage 4000-5, the n°518 replace the old Mirage 2000 C of the "Cdt René Mouchotte" Air Base. This one is from the "Cambrésis" squadron, niknamed "la Douze" (the Twelve), refering to the 12-Y codeof the planes...

This squadron is one of those that created the world famous "Tiger Meet"  ;)

With 11 other Mirage, the 12-YG serves in the Kosovo war for CAP and CAS patrols, but it never uses its weapons at war time...

Thanks for the pictures ;)
OK, I will try the 433 sq one, but probably in a standard scheme (the special is very beautiful, but too difficult to do for me... for the moment  :P )

Fot the RAAF one, the scheme is actually done... I chose something between Gekko's scheme (this one I post before) and a French Rafale camo... It will be a good surprise! (at least it was a good surprise for me ;) )
But I have no idea of any Aussies squadron...

Well, if you have an idea, or a squadron you prefere, I'l go for it ;)
