Captain Canada

Airfix GP sounds too easy....as Wooksta! said, we've all got them in our stash !

Since I just started a Skyvan and I have another Dominie to build, it's too easy for me. And besides, a five year old could slap an Airfix together in an afternoon, so it shouldn't be to hard for us lot !

I should be able to sort out some sort of prize for the GB from the Ian Allan powers that be, will have to check first but my boss thought the Latin-o-rama thing was a good idea...

Airfix as a base kit right, but we can kitbash bits to it from say something like a Matchbox Beaufighter?
Other wise it'll just have to be a paint job, but I've got a coupla ideas for Airfix in the stash so either way I'm definitely in.

There you go two people in gentlemen we have ourselves a group build

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Love Airfix...count me in too.  (don't worry, no phantoms...strictly prop job)

Ian the Kiwi Herder

I'm in too..... somewhere around here is a Strikemaster that I got off Ebay a few months back..... Hmmmm maybe it's time to resurrect that FAC project that the little man in the flight jacket that lives in my head told me to build  ;)

Okay, I'm (probably) in. I've got one difficult project underway already, turning the Airfix Boeing 727-200 into an Ekranoplan, and I've recently been rather taken with the idea of taking my Airfix F-80C and back-dating it to a P-80A in Tuskegee '46 colours.

NMF or OD for that one?

QuoteI think the only difference between an F80A and C is a chunk out of the fuselage.

mmmmn, pizza!
As far as I know the overall dimensions are the same, but there are some noticeable differences. The pitot tube needs to be moved from under the nose to the leading edge of the vertical stab, landing light needs to be inserted in the nose, rear of the canopy frame is a different shape, and the cockpit is much more spartan, no ejection seat. Shouldn't be too difficult, markings are the tough part, except of course that the rear will be a glorious red!  ;)

Now, the prototype is a different matter. Much shorter, but it doesn't look impossible. Maybe I'll try one some day.

Just out of curiosity, what is the timeline for this one??? (when do we start?)  If it was written earlier, and I missed it, I am sorry...just can't seem to locate a date for the build.

Airfix GB is fine by me too...whatre the groundrules if any?

cheers, joe

ps, the P.80A from a C isnt too bad, the biggest problem being reshaping the canopy rear, smaller details etc as prev noted...'LUlu Belle' on the other hand really deserves to be done as a resin kit, i cant see any part of the airframe that is similar to the later A, wing chord/length, fuselage length/shape, intake contours/position, tail unit, undercart, etc. all being noticably different (mines is sitting abandoned after doing all the mods!)

I was hoping to have it start sooner...but if we have to wait to wif in april, that is cool too.

Okay, here's another one I may do. I've had this in my head for a while, and poking around a local shop today I found the ingredients: Take 1 Airfix Meteor MkIII, add decals from a Frog Tempest, mix with paint, and you have a Meteor as flown in 1946 by Pierre Closterman.

I'm tired of constantly seeing Luft '46 stuff with very little to balance it off, so why not?!  ;)

Cool Rat !  We will be in the same vein...I have plans for a wicked YB-40, and the airfix plastic to make it happen...

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Me three, but then I was in the ORIGINAL GB last year also. Just going to have to figure out what to build.
