Hmm. Viking wings, A-10 tails, cargo ramp held on with a "bungee cord", one window replaced with plastic wrap? Sounds fun!

Right, then! I smell another group build: Shorts Sky-White-Van...

You really can not help but notice the physical similarities between the Skyvan and the V-22 Osprey.  So why not take the Skyvan Fuselage and mate it to the wings and rotors from the V-22?  Granted, it would be limited on what it could ca4rry but when you consider the design of the V-22, it is already limited on what can be accomodated internally thanks to the Defense Department decision to adopt the wider HMMWV as the standard utility vehicle to replace the substantially smaller M151 MUTT 1/4ton truck.

I think the Skyvan would look rather brutish with the engines and wings from the V-22 mounted on top and it is quite simple in design so it would be good seller for countries that wanted a vertical lift aircraft with a decent range and payload.

I have been planning a Gunvan for a couple of years.  Doing it in Omani markings during the war with the rebels.  Still debating on which guns and other systems I want to use.

Thinking 2-3 miniguns ala the AC-47, possibly with a 20mm gun.  Not sure if a FLIR would have been possible for them at that time (was the US the only ones using this back then?).

QuoteRemove a section fore and aft the main wing to make an UltraShort Skyvan!
Use the sections removed on the second Skyvan along with the engines to make a stretched four engine Skyvan.

The Skyvan reminds me of a Volkswagen van with wings

If you used the engines from the shortie on the stretch, then the shortie would become a glider and the stretch could tow it.....

Parachute Regiment Heavy Support Platoon glider anyone?  ;D

That's it! Paint it white, dirty it up (adding touches like finger-writing 'tosser' in the grime on the back), ding it in a few places, and add two of the biggest turbofans you can find (dunno, RR Trents maybe).
Add some ladders on top, a few garden hoses, a wheelbarrow and paint "Murphy and Son Builders" on the side?

Dominos Pizza delivery Skyvan? :D

Plus the rack on the side for the UPVC double-glazing, with madly-spinning broom dropped into an open-ended upright.

For boost, how about a couple of C-123-style jet pods under the outer wing, and/or an OV-10BZ-style jet pod on struts over the centre-section? The twin tails would be perfect for that......

Speaking of multi-engine Skyvans, how did we not see more of the WHIF in the background in the attached image?  Martin, do you have any other images of that WHIF?

Thats a Henristani Skyvan. It is specially modified to operate on the acid lake in Henristan (the Pink Sea). It was on this forum some years ago.

Make a new body out of balsa planks and attach the kit nose.  ;D

Other than the old Welsh Models 1:144 vacform, has there really been NO model kits ever made of the Sherpa?  I could have sworn that the Airfix Skyvan had a Sherpa counterpart long ago.

Aeroclub did a 1/72 scale Mixed media kit but its not currently available from them.

One of the extra kits that Anigrand did with the1/144th USAF C-17 was a Sherpa, the other two were a Citation and a Metroliner I think.

I've got the Aeroclub kit, you can find them on the second hand webstores sometime but you have to keep watching for them.

Thanks, Guys.  I'm a-huntin' now...
Looks like Aeroclub has Welsh's Sherpa kit; so that one seems current but it's in 1:144 scale.
