gooberliberation,

Here are those German Zero pics I said I would post...

Its from the Academy 1/72 scale kit.

Love that. Somewhere a JMN has suddenly developed a nervous tic...heh heh heh

How do you get to be that good? Very nice work!

matrixone

Thanks Jeremy and Big Daddy!

I actually got hate mail because of this model, people at some of the other forums don't like what-ifs!

Dear Matrix,

Just so masterly.

Another sublime piece of art sir!

Oh, and I have a crafted response that you can feel free to use the next time you get hate mail...

"Dear Sir/Madam,

While I endorse the right of every individual to have an opinion and I of course wish to hear any critiques that could be levelled against my own works, I feel I must with a heavy heart ask you to desist from mailing me if it is going to continue to be rhetoric aimed at my choice of subject.

I build models for enjoyment.  Mine, not someone else's.  That means that my subjects may be varied and at times may even verge into the unknowable areas of "What if?" or even "Hey wouldn't this look neat?" because that is what I want to make at the time.  If I post pictures, I am asking for critiques of my skill in creating a realistic looking model.  In other words, was I able to accomplish my goal of getting you, the viewer, to for one second say; "Hey, I had no idea that the Zero ever got Luftwaffe markings...Oh, hey, ya got me.  Nice work."

I think that this is not an unreasonable request.

After all, I don't come over to your house and laugh at the half melted pile of styrene you slapped together last weekend while sobbing bitter tears of frustration over not knowing how to actually build something that excites someone's imagination.  I'm sure that adding in that new Photoetch will knock it up a notch beneath the 3 centimeter glaze of cyanocrylate you'll use to get it in place.  Surely your fumbling efforts to substitute cash for skill, rivet counting, and belittling others will somehow fill the empty void in your soul caused by jealousy and spite.

Oh yes, and in regards to your previous comments, I take it back.  Go take a flying %^&* at a rolling donut.

Sincerely...(Yadda, yadda, yada.)"

Or is that too diplomatic?

Again, beautiful Zero, I'm going to have to bug you for pointers once I actually try to finish something.  :D

As for that zero...."not that good" he says.....yeah right!  Thats up to your usual high standard and you could fool a few with that first photo  B)

Great work Matrix!

Funny thing is, if you had gone the other way and done the Fw-190 that the Japanese evaluated in full Japanese markings, the JMNs would have been falling over themselves to pat you on the back.

Cheers

F-32

That looks right...........................you sure they never had any squadrons? ;)

And a simple 'go f*&@ yourself' always tends to hit the spot when it comes to hate mail :D

AeroplaneDriver

You seem to have talent, but I cant understand why you would ruin a good model by building it like this.  Dont you know the Zero never served with the Luftwaffe??

:D
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

wow, that looks niiice! So thats how ya ruined a perfectly good kit? Its not even that far-fetched. Good airplane modeling should always be Coolness-first, Realism-Second. Very nice indeed.

It is always funny though when people get overprotective of "perfectly good kits." Kinda reminds me of this guy who works at the hobbyshop i go to.

Whenever i buy something even remotely old and out of production, he has a slightly bewildered look on his face like "oh god, whats this kid going to do to butcher this up." Ah, this set. Very long out of production... *sigh* I guess we've got to clear the shelves somehow...

And of course the next day, theres 5 identical boxes to take the place of the one i snatched

Thanks for (re)sharing the pics!

That is positively cool! I just can't understand why anyone would want to poopoo your art. By the way, give me a hint on where I can post my creations to piss off some JNMs. I've got some that will really make them sick. ;)

Look behind you!

Gary

Waaaaahhhhoooooooo that looks cool! And you know as excellent as the model is I feel it's important to say that they guys here are cool too. I love reading the supportive messages and fella's, I'm proud to say I'm a Wiffer.

Hmmmm, mind you I would wear that on a t-shirt in some parts of town.
Getting back into modeling

Allan, proditor, nev, Tony, F-32, AeroplaneDriver, gooberliberation, Eddie M, and Gary, THANKS much for the show of support!

That is what makes this site a very cool place to hang out, I can show my work without ''experts'' telling me I got it all wrong with my building or choice of colors/markings. I build my models for the fun of it and not some sort of competition to see who can build the best or most interesting model. I did enjoy building my Zero and thats the whole point of our hobby, it is rewarding to me that you guys looked at my work and took the time to make very nice remarks about it.

proditor,
I really liked what you wrote! If I only had those words two months ago.

AeroplaneDriver,
Aha! So YOU wrote one of those nasty e-mails, O.K. guys get him!  :D

gooberliberation,
Glad you liked the Zero, my next model (the Huma Me 209) should be better than the Zero but it is too early to say for sure since not all the painting is done on the camo yet.

Eddie M.,
Try Hyperscale, in the past there has been very nasty JMNs that visit that site, but most people there are decent. Brett Green has been trying to rid his site of the trolls and he has cleaned it up a lot but from time to time the forum can get ugly.
