Blue Vixen radar sounds good for the Scooter but I'm not sure about the Spey, it was a heavy engine.

A Spey engined version was actually mooted with a fair degree of design work completed on the fuselage changes and engine bay integration. This was the 13,500lb dry version though later on a brief look was given about reactivating the project using the TF41 Spey variant with 15,000lb. Fitting twin 30mm Aden cannons was also looked into long before that mod was finally carried out.

Interesting evolution of the Scooter in that diagram...

It'd be interesting to take the A-4X and maybe stretch it a tad, and then do away with the horizontal tail entirely, use a cranked-arrow planform and keep the canards...

A-4 walk around review

Anybody have any drawings or specs in regards to the A4D-4 and A4D-6?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

A4D-4:

I see lots of discussion about the A4D-6, which was basically a Skyhawk with TF30 engine, but no drawings.  There is a thread with some art featuring the Spey engine, though:

Jschmus,

Do you have any weight, dimensions, and range figures for the A4D-4 and A4D-6?

I have no data of any kind.  I just re-posted what I found on Secret Projects.

There's teeny bit of dimensional data regarding the -4 here:
http://www.joebaugher.com/usattack/newa4_26.html
(Baugher says, "The project never got past the preliminary design stage, since the Navy did not provide any funding.")

I did locate another Secret Projects thread about Skyhawk variants.  The VA(L) A4D-6 is mentioned.

Mods - Could this be integrated with the existing A-4 Skyhawk topic in the existing "Aircraft, Armor and Ships by Topic" thread, so as to reduce clutter?

That A4D-6 is a real beauty
