Was talking to him last night (he lives in the next village) and he was telling me of how the Zimbabwe AF "bust a gut" to send a flypast team to  a neighbouring state for someone's funeral. They sent 5 Chinese -built F-7s, the only things able to fly in numbers.
The unit leader ejected in transit when he got into difficulties; the next crashed on the runway of the airfield while landing; another had to divert(blocked runway of course!) but ran out of fuel and crashed.
Scratch 60% of the air force.
All the pilots were locals as Mugabe mistrusts the white pilots
