Well, it took 32 hours start to finish for my weekend project.  I'm pretty happy with it, but there are a few flubs that would have never happened or been fixed if I had more time.

Anyhoo...here she is, the TNANG F-99A in high-vis paint as deployed to Key WEst in advance of expected hostilities with Cuban/Soviet forces, October 1962.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

A refueling probe as added for US service, along with 20mm guns, this was one of hte few major changes from the Hunter F.6 to the F-99A

I liked the kit a lot.  Nice easy build with excellent detail and only a few fit problems.  The one that was most annoying was the canopy.  The hood sits higher tahn the fuselage, so while it works perfectly for an open-canopy display, it would need work to show it closed.

Anyway, now I can go pack for England!

Wow, Aeroman ! That looks awesome !

Great paint work. And the addition of the Bullpup and AR probe really give it that USAF look. I see a few old Rusiian scows at the bottom of the Atlantic !

Tough a i´m not a plane modeller, I found this one really nice, great painting job and looks super in those US markings.... :)
congrats! ^_^

That looks very convincing in that NMF with what would have been state of the art weapons for that time.  Now fast forward to South Vietham and a deployed F-99 in SEA camouflage with fire bombs and rocket pods or Snakeyes and cluster bombs...

I was about halfway through painting hte rear canopy frame when my litle voice started yelling at me about the lack of a frame, but I figured it's my world so it's easier to make it a feature of the F-99A than clean it up...one of those little flubs that would have been fixed if I had more time on the build.

As for the engine...since my F-99A is a damn-near-stock F.6 procured by the US in a hurry to fill a gap for a few years (remember when a project could go from drawing board to boneyard in less than a decade?) they were all UK built with the standard Avon 203 powerplant.

Thanks for the comments guys!

What a showstopper---great job!

And in a single weekend:  takes me longer than that just to do the freakin' laundry!

I'm humbled.

There's no such thing as innacuracies. Theyre just additional features not seen on the real thing :P

Now that is one good looking Hunter, even by the Hunters own high standards

And I painted a frame on the rear of my canopy too...  :dum:  :dum:

Better yet do the F-100's post NMF but pre SEA finnish which was the dull silver laqure worn early in the Vietnam conflict.

I think that too would look swivvey!

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.
