Hello every body!!

There is my first CAF Mirage 4000. I said first because an other one in a desert camo will probably be drawn...

I haven't finish the backstory but you can see a part of this Mirage's story under its canopy: three Iraki kill markings (1 Mirage 4000-I and 2 Su-27) and three bomber missions as a leader, against industrial area, WMD stocks and a Tu-142 airbase.

The special markings were painted during Desert Shield (the palm trees on the tail, that symbolize a real "mirage" in French imaginary; the "Free Kuwait" under the canopy) and it was envisaged to paint it in a desert camo.
But Desert Storm start while only 2/3 of the CAF Mirage were repainted...

Well, for the drawing, I'm not absolutely conviced: does it miss something? What do you think about it?

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

I like - and I've a feeling Ollie will too... B) more, but with the desert camo please!

Showstopper...gaa-gaaaaa-gaaghhhh  (beautiful!).

Ordnance?

Oh wait, we can so seldom afford any over here!   ;)
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

^_^ It's funny to see as symbol of Canada: palm trees and forthcoming desert camo... Of course, this is for foreign operations, but the beauty of Canadian landscapes may deserve a third 4000, with forest/snow/ice aspect, no? (this is a joke ;) , your drawing is very beautiful)
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Ollie

Very nice, je suis en amour!

Juste une petite chose : je mettrais le drapeau sur la dérive, et non sur le gouvernail...

Mais ce n'est qu'une broutille face à ce chef-d'oeuvre...

Bravo mille fois!

Thank you all!!!

I'm glad you love it ;)

I think you're right Ollie. Initially, the flag was on the tail but because of the palm trees, I decide to put it on the... rudder? (it's the maritime word, don't know the aeronautic one  ^_^ ). But now you tell me, I think I could exchange the flag and the "CAF" marking... What do you think??

I also forget the serial number but I found some pictures of Hornet without it... So, it's not an horrible mistake but the desert one will have a serial number ;)

For Tophe: I know the palm trees aren't very... "nordique"!
But I just thought it will be cool to put it on a still grey fighter!!
Oh! i also thought about a snow camo, like those experimental camo on A-10 or the winter scheme for the Harrier GR.1/3... But... Well, I can't do everything (and it's such a pity!!)!  ;)

Well, but I also chose the palm trees because I don't know the official tail marking of the 433 ETAC (the squadron of the plane)... Somebody knows?? I always found on the pictures a canadian flag on the tail...

Captain Canada

C'est bonne !

That's one sweet looking bird ! You could change the markings about a bit, like the flag, and the CAF, and put the 700 number up on the nose...but other than that, she's simply gorgeous !

Love the Kuwait markings ( although at first I thought it said 'Free Quebec ' ! ) and the kill markings. Great job on the weathering as well, looks like she just pulled back onto the apron after a mission !
CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

Ollie

Ouais, vas-y avec les changements.

Rudder = gouvernail
Fin = dérive

;)

I'll show you how the little porcupine from 433 ETAC looks like when I get back home, I'll scan you some images...

Oh Gordon Bennett -- my mastery of French (having not used it in nine years) currently runs to ordering a plate of chips and a pint of Stella

So I'll just settle for: VERY well done, sirrah!

Thats a beauty!

The palm trees really aren't out of place, as I recall, 417 Sqn. had a palm tree in their official crest.

Happy to see I'm not totally out of reallity ;)

For the Desert Mirage (in few hours ;) ), I return to the classical "porc-épic" of the 433 Sqn. (not ETAC in fact. I think this name is from 1993 only)...
For this one, I chose a 3 tones light olive green/light brown and sand-beige... Hope you'll like it ;)

Oh!! I also think about the Canadian name of the Mirage 4000. What do you think about "CF-122 Mirage"??  :ar:

Ollie

Mirage is a good name, but I don't like the number designation.

What about CF-199 or a high number?

    :)

PolluxDeltaSeven

Well... CF-199 looks pretty good to me!!  ;)

I also thought about CF-144 and CF-212 (don't know why, just filings ;) )... But well, know you write it, I think it will be CF-199 ;)
