Desert Storm USMC OA-37M

The base is obviously temporary, but you get the idea.

Changes to the OA-37M include uprated engines for better takeoff performance and load carrying, as well as better fuel consumption.  New avionics and secure communications are housed in the spine avionics hump, and a FLIR sensor is located on the lower right side of the nose, and a chaff/flare dispenser under the rear fuselage.

This aircraft awaits a FAC mission supporting the push into Kuwait.  It is armed with two 500lb MK82 bombs, two SUU-11/A 12.7mm minigun pods, and a single AIM-9L Sidewinder.  Prior to the mission it will also recieve two four-round 5" rocket launchers.

Mission markings on the nose show three FAC missions and one CSAR mission.

Ther is very little on this build that wasnt in the kit box.  The avionics hump is made from half an ECM pod and an A-7 antenna, the FLIR is made from a 1/48 A-10 Pave Penny sensor, and the Sidewinder came from a Harrier.  The new HUD came from an F-84 and was a bit crazed, so it got covered up.  I also made mirrors for the canopy.  Apart from a few bits of styrene card the rest is right from the box.  Decals are from the TwoBobs A-4 Top Gun set.
