Just to add to this post that there are a couple of hypothetical features on the Hyperscale website regarding a possible history of the Skyhawk in RN service including very good artwork. Thinking of doing a couple myself, if I can find the links I'll post them.

Lemme know if you need some of those beautiful RCN leafy roundels ! I've got RCN titles in white and black, as well as the Navy ensign. Those are the full colour ones. If you want modern low-vis, you gotta go CAF leaf, of which I also have plenty.....

To make the A-4L as posted by Jennings?!? Oh man that would be cool! And seeing as everyone is whiffing a RN A-4 I may start my whiffed A-4s with an RCN L...what do you think?

Going off the entry date given by Jennings (1962) a MB mk 6 bang seat would be about right.  That's the same seat as used in the Buccaneer, so you can rob one from the Airfix kit.

I think I have an old Mk.6 seat, but since my scenario is a bit different from Jennings' (early 70s service entry) I was thinking about a Mk.9.

Personally, I'd use whatever was in the spares box.  But, if he's got a Mk.6 & a Mk.9 just laying about he might as well use the one that fits his story.  

I can't wait to see how the Scooter comes out; I've yet to see an A-4 that I don't like.

To celebrate Queen Elizebeth's Silver Jubilee in 1977, 800 NAS painted their Skyhawk FG.1 aircraft in a scheme reminiscent of 1952, with extra dark sea grey over sky.  

We are forecast to get a bit of an ice storm tomorrow, so if I'm home from work I may get this one finished tomorrow.


Roundels will be full color and the full red squadron markings on the tail.

And here is my new paint stand made from an old $5 Wal-Mart mug tree.  Cutting the knobs off the arms and sanding the pegs to different diameters should fit a variety of tailpipes.  I may add a few clamps to one of hte arms for holding prop aircraft.

It's very stable and the model can turn and rotate on the stand.
