Here's some in-progress shots of some things that have been either dogging me since earlier this year, or I just wanted to show pics of before they're done.

First up is my USCG HF-4J (of F-4J(CG) in some circles...  who's, I don't know, but some).  I'm going to mount some IR and laser turrets in the forward missile wells, a trio of missiles under each wing (early model Mavericks under one, AIM-4's under the other), and some sort of air-drop deployable raft system under the aft fuselage.

...and with that Anthony wins the prize for this week's coolest looking model...
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Next up is my Bangladesh Su-34.  It wasn't until after I'd already painted this thing that I found pics of the modern Bangladesh air force, Mig-21's decked out in a similar grey scheme to Pakistan's.  I went this way because that's what the instructions that came with my Fujimi Mig-21 said to paint the Mig-21 like.  Like the Mexican Su-27K, I'm arming this thing with obsolete weapons.

Like the HF-4J, this one is almost done.

Here's a boring grey, formerly hangover headache inducing Canadian SAR rescue, Merlin.  This was going to be USN, but after doing the USN NH90, I lost the hankering to do this one up in those markings.  Been stuck on this one since May.

And finally, here's the strangest plane I've got being built.  It started out as a Lindberg 1/48 F3U-1 Cutlass (the rear end) and a 1/144 757 model.  I started building it with a good mental image, but as I was putting it together, it began to look a bit familiar to me.  Turns out I ended up building some sort of mutant Sonic Cruiser looking thing.  At first it didn't have canards, but it looked unbalanced.  Maybe because it looked like a Sonic Cruiser to my subconscious, and it was really doing the modeling.

In any case, this one is sitting too, as it's going to require more work than I want to put into it right now.  I'm unsure of how many landing gear it's going to get either, or what it's going to be a part of.  Northwest Airlines decals came with the 757, but it might look good as a military airlifter, or if I can find 1/144 refueling booms, a tanker.  I've got an E-3's rotodome that looks sorta good on it, so it might become a AWACS platform.

Forgot to add to the first plane:  So...  Who's up for a CG/SAR Group Build?  I've got two examples done, with decals for a third waiting  :D

Hmmm, I've never really watched any of Gary Anderson's stuff, so the similarity never hit me.  But I agree, it does look like something that he'd have thought up.

I don't have any B-58 engines, but I do have the engines off of a Revell 1/144 E-3, which are smaller than what's currently there.  I had toyed with mounting the underwing engines above the aft fuselage, but it really looked like a Sonic Cruiser with them there.

In any case, this one is going to continue to sit, as I'm working on the near finished models above, and my secret santa kits before I have to pack everything up and move in two months.

Thanks for the suggestion, Lee!

Buisness must be slow for the USCG if they have to sink a vessel just to rescue the occupants !

great looking model, Anthony. I'd say that's gotta be your best yet !

I think we should have a 'model of the year' vote, where we grab all the pics from the Post forum !

The Su-34 is kinda boring in that colour...still a nice looking model, tho. What's the plan for the Maerlin ? Not to late to be a CDN CSAR bird, then you just have to paint a little bit of yellow.....

That sonic cruiser thins is way cool ! Get 'er done, eh !
