Pictured below is a Sikorsky Kiowa Spotter Mk. 1.  These fly off the decks of the USN's Sequoyah class Battleships (Sequoyah, Ohio, Maine, New Mexico, and Kanawha).  They are used for gunnery spotting over the horizon, and scouting missions.

I built this out of a Testor's 1/72 OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.  The missiles and mast went to the OH-135, so I had this little helo sitting around with nothing to do.  I found some really old US roundels, and thought "this gives me an idea!"  What if modern war was still fought like it was in World War I?  This led to:  What if, for whatever reason, airplanes never caught on with navies?  Which led to:  What if rockets and missiles were too large and unweildy for use?  Which ultimately led to this little model.
