COMRADES!!!!

Is GREAT day in GLRIOUS Soviet Union!!!

But I come today, not with pictures of our GLORIOUS Red Banner fleets, but targets for them.

It is with this intention that I reclaim the title "Productive Comrade" on this site.

ZA RODINA!

Comrade Captain Anatoly Iosef Pakizorich, Naval Aviation Bureau

In all honesty, there's no other way to introduce this, my first assault on bandwidth in some time.  Comrades, I pity your modems!

First up are pics of that NATO squadron I've been sqawking about.  Just basic build ups to the decks and guns, waiting for parts.

Next are my Iowas:

USS Kentucky, BB-65:

USS Michigan, BB-69.  I figure this one got a different refit since she was the last Iowa brought up in the 80's, and after being rushed out for the North Sea Turkey Shoot when she had no sensors, was rebuilt to be more anti-ship than anything else:

Next up is the first Battleship built since WWII for the USN.  This is the Arizona class (BBGN-72) is a cutting edge platform, built in the late 90's to deal with a resurgent PLAN and their gun ships.

This ship is armed with five Mk 41 64-cell VLS, one Mk 82 64 cell large diameter VLS (for large ABM's and ASAT's), two Mk. 71 8" guns, four Mk. 45 5" guns, and a hangar big enough for six LAMPS III, or a lesser number of helos and V-22's.  For close in defense, four Phalanx and two RAM launchers are mounted.

This ship is the first of the batch II ships, the USS Pennsylvania (BBGN-75), as seen under construction.  A new rail gun replaces the second 8" gun.

It's still under construction, but i had to show it off.

With Nuke Task Force 1:

Next is a Japanese helo carrier based on the Osumi LST.  She's got a slight ski-jump at the bow, and I still haven't decided on island placement, or if I'm going to cover up the well deck.

Next are some non-USN cruisers.

First up is the JMSDF Mirai.  It's actually built pretty much straight out of the box.  It represents the "destroyer" from the Japanese Anime "Zipang."  Basically, it's "The Final Countdown" gone horribly, horribly awry.  The ship gets stuck in WWII, and tries not to get involved, but ultimately does, and changes the future.

This kit came with a hull extansion that slips nicely over the aft end of a standard Kongo DDG, and has a nice new superstructure.  Also included is the nifty little tilt-wing VTOL.

http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/Cruisers/CG_mirai/cg_mirai_1.jpg

Next is my take on a real JMSDF Cruiser based off the Atago class.  Put a hull plug in the middle, and expanded her VLS cells with a mid-ships launcher, and expanded launcher above the hangar for VLS ESSM.  This is the cruiser Musashi, first of her class.

http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/Cruisers/cg_musashi/cg_musashi_3.jpg

Here's some comparison shots of the two:

http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/Cruisers/jmsdf_cg_2.jpg
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/Cruisers/jmsdf_cg_3.jpg

Next it's off to merry old England, with the BCGN HMS Hood.  Put OTO 5" guns on the fore deck.  No other progress:

Finally is my take on a refit HMS Tiger, which I stole ideas about from someone else (forget who) on the site where two OTO 76mm guns replace the twin 3" mount.  Not much progress so far.  She may go to Australia.

Next are bunch of USN destroyers, most of which have appeared on the site before.

USS Selfridge, DDH-999:

USN Helo destroyer:

More pics
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/ddh_1.jpg
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/ddh_2.jpg

And now for something completely insane.  I based this off of a study for a follow on destroyer to the Spruances, but left off the Tico structure as suggested in Friedman's US Destoyers book.  I loaded it to the gills with Tomahawk ABL's (10 on board), along with two 5" guns, two Harpoon quads, two Phalanx, and two sea sparrow launchers.  In addition, I went bonkers and added two 1/350 Harpoon quads for some ungodly huge ASM.  I figure the USN built this in response to the Sovremenny's.  This is a Strike Destroyer.

http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/dds_2.jpg
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/dds_3.jpg

Next is a Japanese Takanami class being rebuilt for the USN.  Just started the mods on it.  May cut off the funnel tops and add some Sprucan stuff up there.

More pics
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/mod_takanami_1.jpg
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/mod_takanami_2.jpg
http://hyperion.mystarship.com/models/inprogress/ships/destroyers/mod_takanami_3.jpg

Finally is a family pic of all the Sprucan mods I've done:

Next up is a little ship that had no other place to go.  It's a JMSDF minesweeper that I'm rebuilding to an offshore patrol craft, with bite.  It'll have eight non-ABL Tomahawk launchers on it (thanks to all the Tomahawk tubes from Trumpeter's Iowas).

With the Osumi through deck carrier you will need to build a sponson to mount the existing Island on or Replace it with one from say a shortened remodeled Invincible class. The Japanese made their extra wide to assure the people it wasnt a carrier thus restricting flight deck ops to the rear of the ship,

I dont envy your paint that fleet   ;D
