I think I'm going to bash my Airfix P-40E into something like a P-36 on floats. The backstory is the Dutch contracted for a floatplane fighter to counter the much-feared Japanese Rufe.

My other idea was to build something akin to a Curtiss A-10 Shrike from the Arado 196, but since the rules state the final build must be recognizable as the original, I don't think this would qualify.

On the other hand, the Avro 504 part of my 109/504 crosskitting might not get done before the deadline.  ;)

Got my kit ready for the GB today.

Leigh,
I'm still willing to offer up my 1/72 Short Stirling as a prize. It's got all the parts needed to build the Mk. I version along with the tractor and bomb trailer. I would love to build this kit myself, but my limited space makes displaying the finished bird impossible.

WOOHOO!  Perusing the shelves at Collectors Lane the other day I found an Airfix Meteor III that somebody had turned in. They had painted some chromate green on the interior, some silver on the gear, and some black here and there, but other than that it's untouched, nothing glued. $5! So it looks like my supersonic Meteor project might be a go!

Got the P-80 as well, if I can find some Tuskegee airmen decals that's a second choice.

A Tuskegee P-80, that sounds cool.

Is it too late for me to jump in? Sounds like fun for my first group build, need to get access to a digital camera though....

Craig.  If u can get your model done in time for the scots nationals at the end of april, bring it along, there will be at least two digital camreas on the what if stand.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Craig you can jump in any time before June 18th. Just gotta post yer pic by the 19th beg borrow or steal a camera by then. If not draw a picture of your model on a napkin and post it to me with a detailed description, two affadavits that you actually built it,  and $50 and I'll consider it as an entry.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Use a regular camera and any half-decent photo developer should be able to put the pics on a disk for you. Get it done at the time of processing and it's usually cheaper.  ;)

Gucci, I'm in then. Now, let's see what Airfix treats I have in the stash.

I'm in!

This gives me a few months to decide if I'll be doing something with the MPC Vulcan in the attic or if the James Bond "Little Nellie" will become a low, low, low cost solution to the Royal Marines' desire to get their hands on a gunship, the Nellie AH.1  :D .

Who knows...March-June is a long time...perhaps both!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I've got at least two builds planned for this GB. First off will be the Avro 504 part of my Me-109/Avro 504 crosskitting project and second is the P-36 floatpane fighter build using the Airfix P-40E. I might add a third if I raid the LHS again between now and March. I wish I had a better knowledge of Airfix kits, because some recent  additions to my stash might be eligible.

Brian,
That MPC Stuka would qualify (MPC kits are Airfix kits).

Sidenote,
Are you entering your 504/109 plane in the Wonderfest 109 contest over at Starship Modeler?  While most of them will be trying to make spacecraft out of theirs, I really like what you came up with.

Phil, thanks for the info and kind words my good man! In that case, I'll enter the 1/72 Stuka as well. Since I'm pretty much leaving the fuse alone (except for creatively replacing the canopy and possibly the landing gear) it would qualify! Wow three entries! The irony is I just find these GBs fun and don't approach them from a competition aspect at all.

I'll have to check out that Starship Modeller site!  ;)

P.S. You should see what I'm doing to the D-520. I've replaced the engine & prop with those from a P-26 and plan on grafting on the P-26 landing gear. Hope to have it finished and photographed this weekend.
