Count me in. I've got a lightning(well two actually) and a MiG-29 begging to be cut free of their sprues. There's a sopwith camel hiding in the closet too.

No but they are mine and as I'm counting the votes you never know, a Pink plane  may blur my vision a bit  ^_^

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

I may have to go grab one of those Airfix "Planes in a ziplock bag" kits off the bargain table just for fun.  Once I get my stash out of storage, I've got a couple of kits I'll be throwing at this build.  That is, if I get them out by June...

Funny thing about that camel. Months ago I was looking for one to upgrade the hell out of. Searching at all the "good" hobbystores got me just that humble little airfix. Of course the plastic inside is lumpy, flashy, and rough.  Kinda looked like camel parts, though <_<

The next day, found the academy one at hobbytown(i underestimate that place) for LESS than the airfix blob. I didn't have the heart to buy the academy kit. I've never seen the academy camel -i dont expect much, but I imagine its probably a lot less uh... vintage... than the airfix.

I have built the Academy kit a couple of times, you can find one of my whiffs with a few build comments here.

It's not bad, but has some quirks. Lining up the struts is no problem at all as they are connected top and bottom and the connecting strips fit into slots on the wings. All well and good if the slots and connectors are a good fit, but they are a little off, meaning that there is some fiddly work to do in a very tight space if you want to hide the seams. Surface detail is quite good in my opinion, but there are some ejector pin marks which will need work.

Decals - RUN SCREAMING!!! Absolutely bloody awful, and that's a charitable assessment.

Would I build another? Given the price and basic ease of construction, definitely. But only for whiffing purposes!  ;)

Well, I've just added a second kit to my builds for this GB. Thats now 2 I'll be building for a GB so that's a first. One I know exactly what I'm doing with it, the other one I'm still not sure what I want to do with it yet.

Thanks, Rat... actually, your Bactrian was the only Acadecamel review i was able to find when I was looking it up!

Another group build for my RN COD Rotodyne! I think that makes four.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Comment about Acadcamel seconded - started flaking off the day after they'd been put on! I'd made it up as Peter Jackson's one (no bull.....he owns an airworthy replica, what a display to see! Magic!!). Didn't like it much, but a cheap kit.,

Have to admit...as I sit and look at last year's builds, the pink cobra and hudson stick out the best.  I like the reality of something foolish working out so well !  Pink, give me Pink!

I know the feeling Greg! The other day, I was fiddling with some parts, doing some "advance-engineering" and I realized that I can have four entries in this GB, because now my plans for the Airfix Ar-196 will make at least the fuse recognizable as coming from the original kit. I'm really stoked about this wonderful GB!

I'm just glad that the Airfix GB has taken off as well as it has this time.
