Well a base coat of black was sprayed down and then thin artist tape was used to mark out the camo pattern.

I then started masking the different colours and painting them. So far I have already used 1 and 1/2 rolls of 18mm wide tamiya tape. But the result is something that I am very happy with.

Should finish the rest of turrets tommorrow and then all the shading needs to done. then the pastels and washes. At least another couple of weeks work.

Absolutely WICKED Sisko! That camo pattern is fantastic and really pulls this wonderful build together! I think it deserves the Blue Ribbon!

Lookin' really good, the camo really disrupts the shape of the tank well. I just finished reading one of the Bolo books so this is especially cool right now :)

Looking good - did you decide on a backstory for this one yet?

I have an idea pinging around in my head.

Imperial Germany Vs Tasrist Russia. WW1 was not ended with an amistice. The war basically dragged on for decades with a series of skimishes followed by lulls on a static front.

Needs fleshing out.

As if I need any more work I have started on the Tasrist dreadnaught.

Needs more guns  Maybe a 15"er that shoots hedgehogs.
That thing is wicked

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Actually, there was quite a bit of fighting in Russia after the formal end of the first world war including some interesting participants - Australians amongst others!  In fact, it is a little known fact that Australians won 2 VCs there (both in August 1919):

Corporal A. P. Sullivan, and
Sergeant S. G. Pearse.

So, getting back to your backstory, you could quite conceivably have the fighting drag on in some form after the formal end of the war.

Greg

I didn't know that that!

To be honest I am just looking forward to getting the thing finished. I am however not going to rush the finish line because after three years what is another couple of weeks?

This is a project with a gestation so long that I forgot what the original idea was.
I recently decided on an Imperial Germany because I was looking for something different and because a post here a couple of weeks ago of a modern tank with a WW1 camo job was the spark that I needed.

That's the beauty of this board!! I come here every day to interact to get ideas and to see other inspiring work. If it was not for this board this project may have never been finished.

Absolutely beautiful, in an odd way.  You should head up a "landdreadnought" build next year!

No, not many people do.  It isn't exactly a part of Australia's military history that is publicised widely.

Yikes, can you imagine this thing coming after you?

Shading and Highlights done!

Mixed white with the base coats in ever increasing amounts I sprayed coats to the raised areas. this was done on the whole tank and all the turrets.

The tape was then removed. Had a little bleed on some of the uneven surfaces but on the whole satisfied with the demarcation lines.

This week I start the touch ups then it's drybrushing washes and pastels for the weathered look. I'm also going to do rust streaks and chipping. I've got a long way to go before this puppy finished.
