QuoteHopefully I'll be able to work on this one soon, once I get a hold of some styrene sheet for filling up the rear fuse.
Which reminds me: you should have received that sample set of styrene strips and Gannet props by now, Zac.  Did you?
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, where the hell are my packages from Canada, damn you Canada Post, argh I hate them so very much.

BUMP

Considering working on this soon. As I ended up refurbing the Airfix bird into an Argentine A-4C, I'll instead use the Italeri A-4E with the hump removed.

Sigh..........even MORE filler.........putty...sand...repeat......

Archibald

Courage!!!  :)  You'll certainly finish this lovely model one day...
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Hi, guys, (and ladies if there are any), I'm Rafael, from tropical Venezuela. After a modeling hyatus of 20 years, i finally found a community made for me!. In those 20 years i've built very, very few models and been stashing model boxes in an abandoned corner, waiting for the magic moment in wich i would (finally) sit down and cut, saw, glue, and fantasize and generally have the ton of fun that modeling is to me. That never happenned, though, until one day i found this forum. But it was this thread that really did it for me. I've been browsing every section with interest and found a LOT of very nice things built and dreamed by you, as i would have liked to dream an do. About the Superscooter, though, i would like to point out (or sugest) the following:
1.- Since it has an f119 engine, ¿Would you consider installing a 2D nozzle, ala F22?
2.- The Scooter served in Aircraft Carriers (some still do in Brazil, i think) Does it have equipment like strenghtened undercarriages to make it an AF/Navy airplane?
3.- Evidently, this reincarnation has a Radar at least as good as an f16's. ¿Does it need to reshape the nose or it goes with the same radar set as the kiwi's a-4 (same f16 set with a smaller dish)?

I leave it at that for now, meanwhile, i remember i had a couple a-4s somewhere....
Gracias, y Felicitaciones, amigos.

BUMP!

Hehe..............stay tuned, friends.....

Rafa - good ideas! And, two years on, I may finally be able to use a couple! I'm thinking a reshaped nose, more pointierer.

 EDIT: Just dug out the Italeri A-4E/F box containing one Skyhawk kit and one pair EF2000 wings. Made some great progress tonight....more than when I initially decided to make the Superscooter in styrene! Some changes, but that's like many of our projects right?

New radome, vertical tail, canopy and afterburner can have all been sourced. Old vertical tail and nose sawn off, dorsal fin fillet reshaped and filled, and the new AB is in place. LOTS of filler needed to flesh out the arse-end! TONS of pylons and weapons unearthed, and thinking of doing an in-service Danish example....black canopy a la Tophe to avoid putting in a new cockpit. But I think it'll work  :o. Gear up too.

EDIT EDIT: decided on a weapons fitout. Wingtip missiles of some sort, overwing Sidewinders, standard A-4 fuel tanks, and two triple-shot Mk82 bomb pylons. Centreline PAVE PENNY (?). Just because.

Pics soon. Ish. Maybe....

Zac, I'm very happy to see this one resurrected. As you can read in my first post, this was what definitely drew me to the dark side  I liked the concept veeeery much, and believe it or not, I was thinking about it this very morning, so, in a case of antipodal telepathy, your discovery of this one should have prompted me to turn my computer on and have a look......

So, if you have the old photos, please, re-post them to refresh our memory, and please, please, please (kneels down begging) post your progress images

Saludos,

Rafa

Rafa! I'm touched to think that this little abortion converted you to Our Way Of Thinking! Funny how you were thinking about it....

:D Cheers Bud! That ex-F20 looks interesting.....

No real further progress, apart from building up the nose with sheet styrene - similar to the aft end. Also given the rear of the canopy this treatment. I WAS going to keep occupied this past weekend with this build, but of course I have no more filler....and no shops in town sell my stuff......so Tiffany's volunteered to get some when she next is in Palmerston North, home of my NSLHS.

Updates after Tuesday....god willing!

This one's on hold while I get my heliochopters (Westland-Sikorsky AH-69 and Aerospatiale SA269 Leopard) out of my system. But, more pics soon. The filler around the rear fuse is in place, so she's looking a bit fuller ;)!
