remove one of the canopies.

Tophe

Here is she, final?

Just waiting for Danish Dollars or Euros to be completed and test flown... :D (a plastic model would be quite cheaper)

Maybe replace 4 tiny weeny engines with one GE 90?
maybe swept wings.
Oh, i forget, where are the winglets, the type you find on 737s plz.

Tophe

As requested, the 4 jets have been replaced by one, big. With winglets moreover... :D

For being ridiculous flying plastic planes, I would be less smiling: I remember my grand-father laughing when I was a kid "some people say we could drive in a plastic car!!!". Uh, we do now... And I have heard the new Boeing airliner will include a very big amount of plastic/carbon/composite, replacing the metal of the 1900s... While we are ridiculous inventing, engineers do invent seriously...

Radish

Other possibilities for this wonder?

THREE BIG ENGINES

stick with the four small engines, though, and the outer two could be shut down during a long maritime patrol.

Colour?

All over white, with either RAF Coastal Command markings over the Bay of Biscay, or French Navy markings for the Carribean.
Once you've visited the land of the Loonies, a return is never far away.....

how do you make those drawings?
Metal is slowly becoming obsolete. In the aviation buisness that is. though it is not strictly plastic. I dont like airbus`s choice to use metal in the A350. They will just sak behind.

Just to give you an idea of what size an GE90 engine is, the thing on the photo is a bit smaller

I make these pictures with Corel PhotoPaint 6, the photograph tool that came in the software suite with the vectorial-drawing Corel Draw 6 that I bought in 1997. The same can probably be done with Photoshop, or maybe the new versions of PaintShopPro. :)
Yes, new aircraft materials are not exactly plastic, but resin models are not exactly plastic as well, and composite and resin may be synonyms, I don't know. :)
The GE 90 with a man to give the scale is impressive, what a monster! :D

Ahh, but the composites are plastics, as the word refered originally to the synthesized resin's "properties" rather than "composition".  Built up carbon composites can be referred to as Carbon-Reinforced Plastic in much the same way as fibreglass is also referred to as Glass-Reinforced Plastic.  They've been using such plastics for structural forms in the marine world for a donkeys age. BTW gold is the most plastic of metals.

Resin models are also plastic models, its just that the plastic is of a different form...usually a Polyurethane, than the Hi-Impact Polystyrene used in injection moulded kits.

Cheers, Jon

p.s. glad to see you've all had fun with the A-10Z. It was done in Photoshop.

No, not GE90, GE90 is only used on B777. GE90 is a bit bigger.
maybe when i have finished my first A10 i will make a A10Z, but i am going to make a egyptian and saudi arabian F22 after the A10.

QuoteI've been thinking of a naval variant of the N/AW version with the gun removed, the radar from a F-14 installed, and a plethora of AAMs under the wings.  "Missileer" anyone?
What would it look like with the whole nose chopped off the A-10 and replace it with the F-14 nose??  That could be kind of sexy     Maybe just the unoccupied side of the zwilling should get the F-14 nose.  Now my mind is racing again and I'm going to want to pick up my attempt at the zwilling again.

Do an F14 with A10 nose (including gun) and a A10 with F14 nose.
How is the drawing of the A10 with GE90 coming along?
One GE90 is enough to replace all 8 engines of the B52.

Tophe

B777LR : Bigger ? Even bigger ? Yes, and most of all with a bigger fan in front...

Jon : thanks for your chemical vocabulary analysis. And congratulations for your Photoshop masterpiece that started this topic. My little pictures are fun, while your big clean one stands as the reference...

Not a GE90, but you dont have to make any larger engines now. now make swept wings, or folding wings, and add amraams and posibly a ballistic missile or two.

Tophe

Sorry, I am willing to dream about mechanic birds, not to celebrate killing tools: I discard guns from my models, I will not draw missiles. :(

Here is the swept wing (or VG-wing) A-10Z: A-10Zw... gunless, yes.
